Bau_ong Clutched October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 Anyone did aircon flushing before? been to a reputable workshop and was recommend to do aircon flushing to my recently bought 2.5 year old 2nd hand axio. it was claim that the gas was low in the air con and will spoil the compressor (potential 600 SGD damage) if the gas runs out cost quite a bit for the flushing and now comtemplating if this was a wise choice. also they change out my 2 front tyres, experience car owners told me that i should swap the front for the back tyres instead of changing a new set of front tyres. not sure if i was recommended the best choice.. please advise if this is true ↡ Advertisement

Meadelx200 1st Gear October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 I did a total flush for almost S$200, change the filter but the mouldy smell came back only after 1 month. It's almost 6 months already, never do anything yet, occasional mouldy smell though. Tried running air blower in full blast under hot sun also. York Clutched October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 it was claim that the gas was low in the air con and will spoil the compressor (potential 600 SGD damage) if the gas runs out Can be avoided, if u r attentive, in the event of the gas run out, or aircon vent doesnt blow-out cool-air. Switch off the aircon system. Do not keep the compressor running without sufficient gas in ur system.....it'll overheat the system...may cos the compressor oil-seal/gasket or the clutch assembly to kaput. Torquey Neutral Newbie October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 (edited) flushing is more of a maintenance procedure although its not a necessity. if the gas is low, they shld be troubleshooting whats causing the leak. if you're lucky, a top up of aircon gas is all you need. Dafansu Turbocharged October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 Aircon flush is optional but I do it every 50k just to maintain the condition of my aircon.
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 Nvr do aircon flush but got try the Foam-Kleen... aircon gas low or run out was mainly due to aircon leak.. not sure aircon flush was able to prevent that or not.. for tire... prefer to do 4 change @ the same time rather than 2 @ a time.. by doing rotation every 10K.. u sure will be able to get 4 tire to wear @ or abt the same rate.... i think it is cheaper than changing 2 tire @ a time. It's almost 6 months already, never do anything yet, occasional mouldy smell though. Tried running air blower in full blast under hot sun also. I had the same last year. Ask the air con mech to check wash the evaporator (where it drains out the moisture in the air, then drips water underneath the car) If you are on the older cars- foam is used to cushion it.. Mould will harvest on it. Had mine replaced with some kinda wrap (thermo, i think- shiny shiny one.. ) the smell never come back. Good luck.

Mcf777 Turbocharged October 12, 2010 Share October 12, 2010 i am also thinking of this ideal to flush the air-con. the air-con is not strong enough even though i turned to full blast. today, went for car servicing and change the cabin air-con filter. Vola! The air-con came alife with strong cold air. So for those who think their air-con is not cold/strong enough, you may want to try changing the air-con filter. If this is flushing then its a good thing and the WS help you save $600 if the compressor fails. As for changing tyres the WS also did the right thing. You want to save money by swapping worn out tyres to the back? Now rainy season coming, you skid and crash I think cost more than 2 new tyres. There is nothing better than using fresh rubbers! Ty need to find it n fix e leak n top-up gas n lubricant if necessary. Thats all. Ty give u bs abt doing this n that cos ty see u dun know much abt cars so ty wan to earn more of yr money. Changing tires 1st chk yr tires r worn. Then change. New tires put front or back many pple say different things. Just make sure u get good tires at good price most important. Change tires must also change e air valve at same time. Btw my car abt 140k km 7 yrs old. Never did any flush or coil cleaning yet. Just changed a new cimpressor cos old one making noise n going to spoil so got a new oem compressor. My ac done at Markcool at woodlands. I only let ah huat e foreman touch my ac. Put blower/fan on max n spray lysol or dettol disinfectant spray till it soaks into yr ac coil. Leave overnight n e smell sud b gone.
