the 'change' of ATF is only partial, and most people take their cars to be flushed.

yes, you are right, only fill up point is at the dipstick hole. so gotta pour the fresh fluid in very slowly.

how not to over fill? quite simply drain out all the fluid from the sump, and measure the amount that came out. a rough measurement will do.

when filling up, fill till the bottom marking of the dipstick. run your car for a few KM, and do necessary filling. this allows the fluid to be heated up and expanded.

Don't DIY unless you have means to dispose of the used ATF.

Always replace the AT transmission filter when you replace ATF to ensure no residue trapped in the old filter get circulated with clean ATF.

Its hard to DIY ATF change. Cause you usually need to remove the hose and pump the fluid into the transmission. Also, you will have to remove the pan below the transmission in order to change the filter. Its not easy and rather messy.

from experience it seems atf refill needs some kind of pump .......... but this may depend on the make/model of the car you drive...

Neutral Newbie

I DIY before and quite messy la. Make sure the fluid is not very hot... warm is ok.

I draw the ATF from the dipstick hole as much as I can and than refill new fluid. The next 1 - 2 days did the same thing. Total I did 3 round.

Important * Remember to check the ATF level in case overfilled.
