Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic October 8, 2010 Share October 8, 2010 CNA report : Man charged with cheating colleague SINGAPORE: A man who allegedly claimed he was kidnapped in Manila so he could cheat a colleague into transferring money for his so-called ransom was charged on Thursday in court. Thirty-two-year-old funeral assistant Tay Beng Guan is believed to have told Simon Koh Eng Hock that he was being held captive in the Philippines and that his supposed kidnappers would harm him if their demands were not met. Tay allegedly duped Mr Koh into transferring S$3,000 dollars into his bank account on August 30. It's believed he fooled Mr Koh into transferring another S$1,500 into the bank account by using the same ruse six days later. Tay, who was offered a bail of S$10,000, will be back in court next Thursday. If convicted of cheating, he could be jailed up to 10 years and fined for each charge of the three charges. Rob Carpenter spotted the hearse in the parking lot of a New Port Richey Dunkin’ Donuts on Tuesday with its curtains open and the coffin visible. In the coffin was the body of 84-year-old Lt. Col. Jesse Coleman, a decorated soldier who served in Korea and Vietnam. The hearse was transporting him from Clearwater’s Veteran’s Funeral Care to his funeral. Carpenter confronted the driver and sent images to Veteran’s Warriors. The group posted the images to Facebook. “What could they have been thinking?” Veterans Funeral Care President Jim Rudolph told WFTS-TV in Tampa. “I haven’t got the foggiest idea.” Rudolph said he apologized to Coleman’s family, and fired the two men despite a request by Coleman’s widow to spare their jobs. “I think if they had the ability to turn back the day, they’d do things different,” Rudolph said.
