Seanboi 1st Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 Motorola brought the mobile phone to the market Ericsson made it available to the masses with the GH388, 688 with accessories Nokia made it smaller 3210, 8210 and stylish 8850 Titanium Iphone leads the next round of phones Anyone remember odd old phone models, manufacturer's? Mitsubitshi (my pop had one), Hagenut (the one that looks like a TV remote), Nokia Banana Matrix Phone, Bosch (yes, they actually made phones), Hitachi, Panasonic. Everyone wanted to be in the market. To add on, Nokia removed the antennas and added the predictive text input. If I am not wrong, the battery life is one of the best in its class. I happened to have 3210, 8210, 8850 as well as the GH688. The 8850 is simply , but the casing alone costs $150.

Darthrevan Supercharged October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 those Nokia low end models are specifically targeted at emerging markets..namely China and India. the penetration rate are pretty high as those pple cannot afford expensive mobile phones..and they even share among many users. Soya Supersonic October 6, 2010 Share October 6, 2010 Yup if we walk out of our doors we see many iphones. But if we walk out of our country, it's a different story. Just try that. That's why i said that nokia is still no.1. Often, we mistake that what we see in our tiny red dot represents the world.
Vinceyeo Neutral Newbie October 6, 2010 Share October 6, 2010 (edited) this is before iphone 4 is out futhermore the lack of iphone sales is because they die die want exclusive rights from telcos and most americans tend to shun them is because carrier lock look at it this way IF only singtel got the rights to sell iphones and their set is CARRIER LOCK users of M1 and starhub might shun iphone and go for other models, as even though they can afford to buy no line but got carrier lock.....they lan lan before M1 and starhub got the right to sell iphone, those who have expire their contract just buy any phone in the end they stuck with their contract when iphone release m1 and starhub the right to sell You are aware that IDA forbids SIM locking or carrier lock? Singapore got one of the most free and open phone markets in the world not even USA can compete lol... So the only thing the telcos can do are exclusive sales for specific products. Actually most of the users of Iphone are the current generation of folks in their 40s and below. The market for normal phones are for the older folks who mostly dont know how to use new technology and dont see the need for it. I personally dont use Iphone for the primary reason of Apple branding who are extremely protective of their products. Even a piece of extension power cable cannot buy 3rd party lor. So lame.
