Aimnfire 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 during the early 2000s, Nokia and Sony Ericsson took lead in mobile phone's market. too bad that Apple, HTC and Samsung are too fast. Nokia need to work harder. nokia is popular is because user friendly phone easy to sms and thats about it in term of software they are really really very bad they have this dont bother attitude cause they know other makers sms function at that point of time really s uck and the birth of nokia coincidently as about the same timing with the rage of sms with that rage, nokia is so popular because of user friendly interface

Aimnfire 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 wodering did nokia conduct market study prior their r&d... it seems that they failed to capture what consumers' needs.... they may have models, so..???? they have so many models that makes us consumers confusing in the end almost all their phone is the same except for the name and design the worst design is their n-gage its like holding a brick to your ear when u use it without headset
Aimnfire 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 actually, nokia is doing the right thing in marketing strategy. they are avoiding the over saturated smart phone arena which is dominated by apple, BB and HTC and the other entrants. They are doing what they do best by concentrating on keypad phones which remains a big business which is less crowded. Why fight with so many for a small piece of pie when the big one is their own forte and where they already have a head start ? it is the belittlers who dont see the brilliance of the strategy. yes i agree with you their lower end phones are for 3rd world country their high end totaly cannot make it no doubt they are the first to introduce fm radio, wifi, banana shape and blue screen for 8250 but whats the point of this if their software and hardware constantly breakdown
Aimnfire 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 Iphone may be gaining popularity but Nokia is still no.1 in terms of worldwide volume. yup for normal phones they are the leader but for smartphone they are declining fast
Ultramega 1st Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 Went down to 2 Nokia service centres. One at Parkway and the other at Century Square and found out that both are no longer in operations. Only the one at Vivio and Causeway are open. I wone be surprised that the one at Wheellock is also game over. This move will make all the Nokia users very inconvenient Guys, take a look at this: http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=1372013 Nokia is currently still the leader. And they win Apple by A LOT! If Apple wants to overtake Nokia it's a looooong way for them. As to why the service centres close down, it may not necessary be drop in sales. It may be due to improved quality resulting in less requirements for servicing.

Aimnfire 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 Yup if we walk out of our doors we see many iphones. But if we walk out of our country, it's a different story. Just try that. do you know that singapore is one of the countries that their electronic goods are much cheaper iphone without contract cost less than our neighbouring countries where it can be price twice or thrice what singapore is selling

Babyt 4th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 its the wrong thing. there is no more demand for keypad phones. no one goes around saying " my dream phone is a nokia" u r so wrong...there r still plenty of countries who do not enjoy cheap mobile plans especially data plans like developed countries do. singaporeans r using iphones do not mean there is no demand for keypad phones elsewhere. just like ppl here r using 1TB harddisk doesnt mean 160GB harddisk are not in demand...be surprised countries like India, SE Asias are still buying them haha. Bystander50 5th Gear October 5, 2010 Share October 5, 2010 Iphone looks more like a toy compared to BB which looks more professional. Another thing which I don't like about Iphone is that apple controls what apps you can have unless you jailbreak it. It also gives the impression that you don't own the phone as apple have the capabilities to disable it from their remote servers. That was what they did to the lost Iphone 4 prototype. Privacy is another concern with this phone.
