Throttle body cleaning

I also did a throttle body cleaning during the last servicing. RPM was about 200rpm higher initially. It went back to normally after about 1 week of driving.

when starting engine in the morning, sometimes the engine goes off after being started.

my guess is that the injectors are dirty?

cos the other observation i have is that driving off in the morning, the car seems to be laggy and jerky due to insufficient fuel. if i step on the accelerator harder, the jerkiness/laginess goes away quickly.

is it the fuel injectors being clogged up? or fuel filter dirty?

If it's fuel filter clog, you will experience jerking when accelerating.

Few possibility

- Fuel injector dirty

- Battery weak

- TB sticky

- Worn spark plugs or ignition coil

battery is not the issue cos just changed.

i suspected the fuel injector to be the case, that's why i poured in some fuel injector cleaner and the engine dying off problem during cold ceased. however, still a bit laggy/jerky when driving off from cold.

on the other hand, does a problematic spark plug/igintion coil result in the engine only dying off when we crank it from cold in the morning

i was also wondering anything to do with the throttle body....that's why wondering whether to pour in more fuel injector cleaner or not.

You seem to have found your problem, i would suggest pour another bottle(strong doses) of injector cleaner and monitor somemore.

Weak ignition coil or worn spark plugs does exhibit such symptom, weak sparks, some jerking and worsening FC.

thanks, i will go get more fuel injector cleaner!

oh i was expecting the jerkiness to do with spark plug/ignition coil usually happens any time instead of drive off in the morning when cold. i may be wrong though hehe

Weak coil or weak battery can result in fail 1st crank, need 2nd crank to start it. I don't know why but that's usually the symptom.

Petrol easy to ignited. Even if coil is weak or crack, most of the time you can't feel it. it is when the coil almost died then there's alot of idling and driving problem , i know because my fuel (LPG) is hard to ignited so i'm very careful with spark plugs and put alot of dielectric grease around the boot and below the coil.

This is to ensure no spark leak and spark get the less amount of resistance to jump thus less load on the coil, hopefully can prolong coil life. You ask Genie, he will know about the issue with weak ignition system as he also use dual fuel.

thanks for the great explanation !

i am not very hands on and well read on maintenance issues but can see the advice you give is really useful.

i just wonder how do i identify the coil and where is the boot area you referring to ?
