Hulk 1st Gear October 4, 2010 Share October 4, 2010 Hi bros, Recently when I depress my brake padal, there is a "tock" sound heard. Serviced brake but sound still come back. I am driving a Toyota, heard that this is a known problem for Toyota that the "tock" sound come from the brake caliper. Any bro who have this problem before? The sound is so irritating that I feel want to replace the whole brake caliper. How much to get stock caliper? Which stockist to get? ↡ Advertisement

Mini-itx Clutched October 4, 2010 Share October 4, 2010 Noise from brakes, sometimes its quite normal sometimes it may be warped rotor. Sometimes its due to the way the pistons compresses the pads onto the rotors.

Tiphoneas Neutral Newbie October 4, 2010 Share October 4, 2010 Ya this is what I feel also is the piston problem. i 2nd that. do a check at workshop and highlight this to them. some workshop can't diagnose the problem, and once you tell them where and what, they can check and mystery solved!

Hulk 1st Gear October 5, 2010 Author Share October 5, 2010 my toyota vios also got this noise.. if the problem is with the piston is there any solution? I'm waiting to see a mechanic who work in agent, recommended by my colleague to see my brake "tock" sound problem now. If can replace piston I will do it, if can't I will replace the whole brake caliper system, don't mind spend little bit more as long can get rid of the irritating sound. Jphua Neutral Newbie November 25, 2012 Share November 25, 2012 Tok sound likely some bolt is loose. Hv it throughly checked. If e nut or blot comes out u cud hv no brakes. Raise car up n stand below n rock car to see where sound us from. tis could be a point. mine caliper's threaded hole is gone hence the bolt to to tighten the caliper is loose. so when brake is pressed, tock sound come out as the bolt is lossen. pls hoist up the car & check. refer to the pic attached. see the rusty bolt in the center of the pic. you'll see there is a gap between the bolt & the bracket. tis is my case. best advise to bro who heard sounds from braking, pls do send for a check. brake system don play play. Jphua Neutral Newbie November 27, 2012 Share November 27, 2012 this is not normal , this is rotor got problem , u can try to do disc skimming only $60-$80 if rotor is uneven, normally it will produce a screeching sounds rather than a tock tock sounds. tat's wad i think so... best is TS go check his brake be it caliper, rotor, any bolts connection better. ↡ Advertisement
