Β

For someone who doesn't know, you seem to be commenting on all threads related...

Β

I realize you may have your unhappiness against them... you have the right to be unhappy...

Β

And yes, I am pro-PAP before you start calling me names...which of course, you also have the right to...

Really? She contributed in a level that we have to pour accolades on her?

Β

" Never-before-revealed material showed that during the drafting of Singapore's agreement to separate from Malaysia in 1965, it was Mrs Lee, a conveyancing lawyer, who wrote up the bilateral contract concerning water supply."

Β

Without sound judgement and a sense of long-term orientation, this bilateral contract would have resulted in a failure.

Β

Could Singapore have progressed so much without a source of water supply? The answer is a straight no. [;)]

I am not happy nor unhappy, because it has nothing to do with me and no contribution directly to me. I dont give a damn about local politics and no pro any party, because which ever party wins also me dont get anything except higher bills to pay.

Β

Maybe you should go join her and continue to serve her, that's the spirit to be your party supporter. Master go where, dog should follow. [:p]

RIP Mrs Lee.

Β

A role model for all wives.

i think it depends on which pespective u adopt.

She helped penned the woman charter which any unfortunate man experiencing broken marriage may not appreciate and marriage is not a one way traffic.

Β

Furthermore, her working life a bit unique leh. Owned a law firm that boss enjoyed flexi hour, don't think it

is relevant or appropriate to the working masses here.

Β

Moral education to the kids, don't know much to comment. You can come out with some examples to substantiate why she was a role model?

Me will just keep quiet and continue to live my life. All these political stuffs, better don't say too much. Happy or not, just keep it to yourself.

Β

There is no such thing as freedom of speech in SG or someone may come knocking on your door if you say too much.

Β

Wah, you need to watch your words esp. on a public forum. It dangerous because there are PAP and LKY supporters everywhere. Some of these may even be working for ISD etc.... If your comments are not welcomed by them, someone may come knocking on your door.

Β

Must always remember there is no such thing as freedom of speech in Singapore.

Β

If you want to scold or whatever, make sure no one knows and no one hears.

the mixed reaction of this thread shows:

Β

- Old Man L33 doesnt connect with the young generation much these days.

- Old timers respect him coz he brought Singapore from zero to hero status, but young people dont necessarily.

- It could be his fault that young people dont understand his importance to SG during the early communist/malayan emergency days.

- All our primary/seconday history books don't have a single word about the communits/malayan emergency days, so how can the young generation appreciate what he had done during the malay vs chinese days?

- It is as if the removal of that part in history was on purpose, to a certain extent "out of sight, out of mind", so cant fault young sg from not appreciating wat had been done.

Without all the facts, my take is that water agreement definitely should be on its own. Otherwise, no point separating, it's like murdering one whole state.....
