Been in the web business for more than 14years, i can guarantee you local webhost is incomparable to overseas one when comes to features.

Most local webhost uses cpanel which provide very minimal control over your hosting.

I think godaddy or google should start you off for basic hosting.

For me, CPanel is already too much.Only use few features.

I am using Singapore host. Support local even if its a little bit more expensive but the customer service and technical support level is good.
