My aunty and mum wants to start a home based cake cum cookie business.

I want some recommendation of a cheap and good web hosting.

1) a few pages showing the cookies and cakes.

2) a proper registered web address that will 'forever' belong to me cum a e-mail address.

3) a ordering page using visa or pay pal, etc.

Anyone who got lobang pls pm me.

Hope to get it ready for the 2011 Chinese new year goodies sales.

Hi,

I will definitely choose GoDaddy.com, comes with email.

I believe you will need to create an account with Paypal.

On Paypal, there are three types of accounts you can create. In Business type, you can sell products, Personal type, personal shopping, and Premier type, individuals who buy and sell online. I highly recommend Premier.

Hope this helps, and good luck to your business!

GoDaddy is not so good for startup website. I signed up in January for my iphone apps repository. Got suspended in March because the traffic is too high.

I recommend you to try Singapore web hosting by oryon.net and ask them to setup Google Apps email for your accounts. In this way you can use Gmail accounts with your own domain name.

bro, they intend to sell overseas? for small turnover, i think they should start small.

here are a few suggestions dealing with e-commerce,

1. you don't need to pay a lot of money for web hosting and shopping cart apps. too much over heads.

2. most home business in singapore already using blogs as their vehicle for e-commerce

3. don't bother with your own domain name and email hosting, you will find it overwhelming very quickly

4. paypal is good for international orders. but in singapore, use direct transfer or cash.

5. google email is free and you can leverage on the apps in google

6. i think there is a way to link your blog domain name and email also.. need to find out.. and its free..

7. as a home based business the turnover maybe less.. if you want a visa setup, you will pay a fee every month..

good luck though.

For online transaction you need to play the vendors monthly and I dun think i your biz size should do that. eNets, Visa, Master all need to collect fee.

Although online transaction is sooo common now, they are still quite a few who still largely prefer COD.

I recommend you to make it COD bah, perhaps can charge some delivery also. ;)
