Fuel consumption goes up after changing air-con compressor.

Hi fellow bros,

 

Do anyone have any advises on the above topic? Juz changed my air con compressor recently and found out that my fuel consumption is nw higher. Please advise.

Try another few more tanks. Could be your engine has been idling too long during servicing/testing. 15 mins of idling w/o ramming the engine could easily consume about 200ml of petrol.

as a matter of fact, i've changed my air con compressor a few mths bk... i used to haf a 13-14km/l but now drop to 11-12km/l straight after i changed my air con compressor. Another thing to note is, the veh seemed to be less powerful when i on my air con now then previous when i haf not changed my air con compressor. Without turning on the air con, its still fine...

Because the aircon 's piston is still new and need more pulling power from the belt. Give it a few more weeks and

your fc will improve.

is your compressor identical as your old set ? Could be your compressor a higher spec - need a higher voltage. drawing more from from engine.

i used to think that the compressor draws the energy from battery, but after doing my readup, i've found out that the compressor draws the energy straight from the engine itself.... as for the model whether its the same as the previous one, i dun think its really the original but maybe similar.... they shop told me its an OEM model... got no choice as no other air con shop haf the similar air con compressor as to my veh...

these days almost all aircon compressor are rotary 'pump'.....conventional piston pump absolete liao

i was thinking if u top up the compressor without first pumped out the air, the compressor will have to work harder to get the set temp, meaning it will be coupled to the engine more of the time thus fc increase.

don't know my thinking correct or not ?

Impossible. The instance you disconnect the hoses, all the gas leak out and gone already.

I assume new air-con compressor to be the same specification as the replaced one:

The replaced one really worn out

The new belt adjusted a liitle too tight?

Impossible. The instance you disconnect the hoses, all the gas leak out and gone already.

what i am trying to say is that, when all gas leak out and gone after replaced compressor, u need to top up the gas. right before the top up, u should suck out the air inside the hose, compressor, cooling fins.... then u top up the gas. air con specialists always do that.

some workshop don't suck out the air, they just add in the gas. in this case, the gas top up will be lesser as there is already air inside and the compressor, thus your engine, will need to work hader.
