I'm a novice.

I would like to have a forumula that counts the Characters in a Cell.

Say : A1B2C3 means there are 6 characters, what formula to use to count it ??

Thanks,

use for extract of alphabet.Some for people who want to know the length of other countries telephone length,or in some formatted string,you want to extract certain field starting from say 9th character. You do a =len() the string, then if you want the first string starting from 9th character to the last one,you can do a =right(cell 1,len(cell1)-9) . then you can extract the string after the 9th alphabet.

I have to CONCATENATE 5 cells into 1 to get a Part Number and only when the No. of Characters reach 10 means the Part number is complete and I'd like to register the complete part into another cell.

Example :

Cell A1

ABCDE12345 means 10 characters => =IF(LEN(A1)=10,A1,"")

Excel is quite powerful, if you know its capability.

For those who has crosstab reporting needs, you can use Pivot Table, a very useful feature of Excel.
