Micb 5th Gear September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 Need advice if it is worthwhile to sign up on the maintenance package from Wearnes for my new S60 T4. Can someone give an indication roughly how much does it cost per service after 15km, 30km or 45km? Many thanks. I thought the 60k full maintenance package comes with every new S60 ? How much did the AD quote for the maintenance package? Also, must check if the maintenance package is inclusive of wear and tear parts too. If in the region of $2k or less, perhaps it will be good to sign up for peace of mind since AD will handle. My 2-cents ! ↡ Advertisement

Xiao-Hei Neutral Newbie September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 I think something is confusing over here... regarding the package... I also signed on it... this is what i have been told... the normal 3 years maintaince is standard... that include sevice interval... the package that i signed, whcih is the 1.8K, is something outside the normal service... they can cover wear and tear, paint work, bulb spoil, and any other repair for FOC if you signed under the package.... they only don cover the tires... correct me if i am wrong... Edwardian Neutral Newbie March 17, 2014 Share March 17, 2014 Folks, I am from KL and currently researching for a Volvo S60 between 2006-2008 model. With this forum, I see more positive comments, and of course all continental cars have their pro and cons. But what is more important is satisfaction and reliability [extra cash for parts], including passion for the Sweedish make. Disoppointingly in many forums [Malaysian - some of them] are reporting some horrif experience - to conclude its not advisable to get a S60. Can check-out this url below: http://site.motortrader.com.my/Cars/Forums/f132/t928266/Volvo-S60.aspx - S60 http://site.motortrader.com.my/Cars/Forums/f132/t928267/Used-S60-vs-used-S80-Which-.aspx - S60 Appreciate if you guys can share on S60 (2.0 or 2.5), especially if there are any known problems witihin the manufacturing produce year e.g. 2006-2007. Is indicator stalk is a known issue or part of wear-and-tear item after some years? Appreciate guys, thank you.
Mach23 2nd Gear March 21, 2014 Share March 21, 2014 I have owned a 2004 S60 before. It is a long running production car with readily available parts and some choices of servicing outside the authorized distributor. If you take good care of it (not abuse it) and follow the maintenance schedule there is little difference in owning this Swedish marque and Jap/ Korean. Of course with more electronics and mechanical parts than Asian makes, there are more items to repair or replace (eg suspension systems) with age but hey it's like choosing a ubiquitous Casio watch vs an automatic watch.

Is indicator stalk is a known issue or part of wear-and-tear item after some years? Appreciate guys, thank you. I am on my 3rd Volvo now. For the old model S60, it has the same mechanicals as my van. I think the old model S60 still looks sleek today. It is comfortable and quick enough. The driver seat is the best among all car brands. You can driver for 2 hrs straight without any backache. Indicator stalk - Replaced mine once, at around 100K. 5 minute DIY job. Part is easily available online or in Sin Ming. Engine - Only now a little bit of oil leakage (almost 140K now). 2.0 T gives 180hp (can chip to 230hp in 3 minutes), 2.4T5 is best 260hp (can chip to 300hp). It is very quiet if you don't rev. Never have any problem with the engine. Transmission - Rock solid (except the 4 speeder in the S80T6 - avoid that model!) Suspension - This is the weakest link for Volvos, tends to have occasional noise from the front struts (spring seats/bushing) when going over humps. Aircon -Never even once serviced the aircons in all 3 cars other than replacing the cabin filter - works flawlessly. Safety - can't ask for more! Fuel Consumption - I have a heavy right foot, I get about 8-8.5km/litre. 4 door should be lighter and slightly better. It is meant for comfort in town or highway, not driving in the back roads. Edwardian Neutral Newbie March 23, 2014 Share March 23, 2014 Thanks for the feedback, indeed very positive and with that said all your experience counts - Mach23, Volvobrick. The S60 looks to have more fans compare to S80. Was looking at S80 as well between year 2005-2007, preferably 2007. The dashboard of S80 looks elegant and posh, of course the seats but the engine too (looks costly & powerful) - looks really masculine appearance. I recently ask one of my mechanic for his opinion between S60 and S80, he shook his head not for the S80 - I believe the maintenance between these two spec has a lot of difference when comes to maintenance and cost of wear-and-tear parts replacement. The S80 2.0 and 2.5 has some difference on its facelift and lenght as well, too long the uncle type but remains elegant and sharp. Any personal opinion and experiences to share between these two models? Not to mix with the V50, another nice piece but leaving it out from my list. What is the cost of the timing belt, any one change it before? Thanks guys. ↡ Advertisement
