GLZT 6th Gear March 13, 2017 Share March 13, 2017 Anyone driving Kia and service their car with CnC? I just went for 40k servicing. SA say front brake pad left 10%, when I went for my 20k servicing, the same guy also say left 10-20% which I say go ahead with the replacement. I drive with rather hard braking, but Kia OEM brake pad got so fast need to change meh? I never come across this frequency with the other brands. Anyone have such encounter? Plan your line of sight so that you do not brake so often 40k seems fast, my vios previously clocked almost 150k before i changed the rear pads. yeah, I think my front will be changed in that kind of distance too.
GLZT 6th Gear March 13, 2017 Share March 13, 2017 40k seems fast, my vios previously clocked almost 150k before i changed the rear pads. It's actually 20k, cause I already replace on the 20k servicing. He still can tell me: "Yah, about time to change." when I told him I just change only. flashbang Turbocharged March 13, 2017 Share March 13, 2017 Sound like C&C anyhow change brake pad? Mine used for 30k already, never ask to change yet.
Kangadrool Supersonic March 13, 2017 Share March 13, 2017 think only need to change when you hear screeching sound. It's designed to make some noise when the pads are low.

Anyone have such encounter? actually normal korean n jap car very easy to do brake pad self check. just look inside the caplier . see the photo on top, the thinner section is the metal and the thicker section is the pad. left abit then need to change, most jap/korean car got a metal indicator haven finish, will have a screeching sound already. dun kenna smoke by AD conti like BM will have sensor to tell u

Some have a groove running down the middle. If the pad is flat with the deep section of the groove, time to replace.

Terrylmt Supercharged December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 Be light footed on accelerator pedal. Brake pads can last longer. Then what if can't brake in time and then have to jam brake? Won't take consume more brake pad and shorten their life span? Cadenced braking is better - no?

Banz86 5th Gear December 19, 2017 Share December 19, 2017 Me too, my front brakes have not been changed and my mileage is around 87k. I changed my rear brakes 4 years ago at 40k mark which has worn out.
Terrylmt Supercharged December 19, 2017 Share December 19, 2017 Is cadence braking with ABS equipped vehicles required still? Cadence braking is the "human ABS" and we should always try to practise it. Once it becomes muscle memory, having the technology to back you up would make it even more effective - no? Once it becomes muscle memory, having the technology to back you up would make it even more effective - no? You will mess up ECU calculation. Rather than cadence braking, why not brake harder to activate ABS? ↡ Advertisement
