Vehicles galore in no-parking areas

OVER the weekend, I attended the Kite Festival at Promontory @ Marina Bay with my family. The traffic was very bad as a lot of vehicles were parked on both sides of Marina Boulevard.

I was quite puzzled to see so many vehicles parked on such a prominent road in the no-parking zone.

Similarly I noticed vehicles being parked on both sides of Changi Road, Sims Avenue and Eunos Road a few weeks ago during the Hari Raya celebrations. This added to existing traffic congestion.

Vehicles are also parked at no-parking zones around the Singapore Expo during weekend events or exhibitions.

What is the policy of the Traffic Police on such unauthorised parking?

I believe these are the kind of people who makes Singapore a worser place to leave in. Intolerance. IMHO, as long as the illegal parking doesn't block or cause major inconveniences, it should be alright. But there will people like the above who's "law-by-law" mentality who will go all out just to get a kick of it. I mean parking alongside the wide multiple lanes at Marina Bay Promontory on a non-working weekend will bother who?? Hari Raya Puasa last week of fasting, ppl go Geylang Serai illegal park along the area since not enuff car park after office hour to do their yearly shopping, bothers who??

Now we know why Singapore has many rules and regulations, but zero in give and take. BTW, I'm Chinese.

i dont understand these kind of idiots..just because they can't get to do it,go around and complain to the whole world..not to stir anything, but seems like he's an FT.

If a person goes at 90km speed limit, you guys will shout that he is road hogging at expressway. If someone complains about the illegal parking then will target him as FT. If everyone wants to go against the rules and law, then why the f**king law in first place. If there is going to be exceptions then let it be, but, don't make your own exceptions and make that as a rule.

relax lah bro..from my post, there's no ill intent nor any anger..i only saw the name and just used the word "it seems"..never even said confirmed..why so angry?too stressed at work is it..

as from ur point, travelling at 90km/h when traffic is clear ahead is definitely causing blockage to the traffic behind and can definitely tailback few km back causing everyone the trouble..

but for parking on such ulu places on non-working days can't cause the same commotion right...?

I am stress free, that's why refreshing forum every minute. You can comment on his post content, but, what is the necessity there to tag his comment and "FT"? Where ever we go, people will complain whether it is right or not. Probably, his intention is not to see singapore like the place he came from? You guys have not lived nor experienced it(exceptions). Even if his intention is not that, take it in right spirit.

Relax. The car population in Sillypore is just too many. Try going to Malacca, same thing lah brother. Cameron, Penang, Johor, sama brother. Ppl just want to go to the location to enjoy the day/night out. They dont mind kanna fine. So, if you not ok with these kind of wait for parking space or dont want to be blocked during such mega event, then dont drive there at all. Its all part of the game. [wave]

It is alright if park illegaly but don't cause jam.

But illegaly parking last week at Geylang is too much. Too jam. People wan convenience do last min shopping we can understand but not at the expense of causing inconvenience to other road user.
