Karebu 1st Gear September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 (edited) What should the correct reaction be when the airbag deploys? I know there may not be time to think, but, what should be the right reaction to avoid broken noses or bones? Benarsenal Turbocharged September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 Law of physics means that the third option would reasonably be the most likely position a driver will take in a frontal crash.
Expertz 1st Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 you should use your legs to block your face if possible put the soles of your feet onto your steering wheel and wait for airbag to deploy

I know there may not be time to think, but, what should be the right reaction to avoid broken noses or bones? Is there even a correct way to react to the airbag? Even if there is your hands should be on the steering wheel always... If not to avoid a broken nose or face, you might be plowing your car into someone and even into a crowd... Soya Supersonic September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 i tink the best reaction is to quickly take out the pen and write down the other car's plate number for 4D before the airbag deploys......oh, and if got time also take out the wet wipes to get ready to wipe face from white powder. Metblue Neutral Newbie September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 After a significant frontal impact, the airbags will be inflated within 0.08 secs and it is absolutely impossible to react so quickly. Prior to the crash, the natural instinct of the driver will cause him / her to jam brake or swerve to avoid the accident and positioning nicely to avoid getting hurt by the airbag will be the last thing in his / her mind. Thedream 3rd Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 As some bros have pointed out, there is no reaction time. But in the even that you know it's going to happen e.g. you're flying towards something or you see another car going to ram you hard from behind: Your airbag will deploy with a lot of force and I don't think it is a good idea to put your arms in front of your face. One of the most common injuries is whiplash (caused by the violent jerking of your head). So I think it's best to brace yourself by putting your arms on the steering (slightly bent) and pushing yourself back to minimise the force forward. In any case, in an accident in which the airbag deploys, you will most probably lose grip of the steering and even your feet will likely fly off the brake pedal. Yeobh 4th Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 That's why very short people, kids and babies should not seat in the front. If your face is facing the steering almost directly , I suggest you go and apply to the authority to have thier permission to disable the SRS and also keep the insurance adv
