Liuz0004 Clutched September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 HI all, im in europe now and most of the cars here run on diesel turbo. more than 90% are manual. in fact, i have not seen any auto cars yet. the merc i sat on is also manual, diesel turbo. the standard car here is the golf polo. anyway, diesel engines being quiet and refined really depends on the car's sound proofing. from the outside, its just any other regular noisy taxi. it is really not that smooth. u can only judge it after 3 years to understand why petrol engines are preferred. anyway, a litre of diesel costs 1,20 euros (about S$2.10). a litre of petrol costs 1,40 euros (S$2.45) for
Yeobh 4th Gear September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 Travelling on the autoban you need manual gearbox especially with diesel engine.
Kb27 Supersonic September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 I drive a TDI van. I wonder why it always seemed to be manual gear.
Yeobh 4th Gear September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 Diesel Max engine speed is still not where compare to petrol engine.
Benarsenal Turbocharged September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 Diesel Max engine speed is still not where compare to petrol engine. Diesel's strengths is torque, which provides low-end power for situations such as overtaking, when you need a quick burst of speed on demand.
Carer 2nd Gear September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 yeah, a typical cruising speed of a tdi is around 2.3k rpm at 120km/hr

The OC500 sound like a lion roaring esp when you listen the bus driving off from the bus stop.

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 21, 2010 Share September 21, 2010 actually regarding the vibration of the buses, wait till you sit in those old Hino's or UD buses by SMRT..... when it comes to the traffic lights, your whole body and organs start vibrating like crazy..... you'll worry if your organs actually fall out of the body..... but those bus are super torquey.... easy easy can reach 80-90kph....
