those who dream of COE crashing to single/double digit figure, DREAM ON....AND ON....AND ON....

Even if there's a crash, it'll drop only to as far as $10K....and even tat is quite a stretch of imagination.

 

 

I'm not that greedy....below 20k i'm happy liao.

Crashing of COE market is a bit hard lah...unless for the pass 2 weeks no one go buy car...

better don't crash overnight, otherwise everyone will 'chiong' to showroom and price will shoot up again. I would rather every bidding exercise drops 2k-3k, then price should back to 20k level in 6 months time. [rolleyes]

Crash?

Even if crash, if we never got bid for the COE also no use.

Its like your car number plate come out first prize, but you only buy $1 or never buy. Talk and Talk and lament also no use liao.

 

Lesser people buy properties, means the money must be diverted somewhere else.

Car market will be supported by the cash rich investors who dont know whereelse to plonk their excess money.

i beg to differ.

Are cash rich investors salaried workers or biz man, stayed in posh apartments, wine and dine in

fanciful restaurants? If those are the critical mass behind COE bidding, our gahment will be very happy and satisfy their every needs.

But i don't think such investors are the major players in COE bidding every month.

 

I do believe PR buy properties because they do not want to rent long term, if they plan to stay

in the place for say, >5 years. They predict they can still make a profit if they return back to homeland, or

venture to greener pasture. I.e. it is an investment, a parked asset.

Richer players may even buy 10-20 units of condo for their own reasons (never mind where they got their funds)

 

However, cars are liabilities and they don't need so many cars.

 

For the rich investors, COEs are not liquid instruments.

For PR in senior positions, car incur monthly expenses. They may change a car once a year, but there are not really that many senior positions to go around, and it will be paid by company if they are real senior enough.

 

Unless buyers are collectors and stationed here .

But high net worth jetsetters are far and few between, COE variation of 20k - 40k, are spare change to them.

Anyway, different league, different views. But I don't think they are sizable enough to distort the trend.

 

PS : maybe they can contribute to catB but usually not catA.
