Headlamp Bulb Recommendation

Hi Bros,

Noticed this topic on headlamp hasn't been discussed much in this forum. Does anyone has recommendation for headlamp bulbs that are slightly whiter (but still LTA-compliant) and yet last comparably as long as standard halogen bulbs (i.e. about 2 years)? Thanks!

Slightly whiter (apporx 4000k) can try Osram Nightbreaker. New generation NBs, as oppose to the earlier generation NBs are said to last as long as standard bulds.

Got mine from this UK site for less than SGD 50 (H4) in June. Sgp sellin ard SGD 60 - 65, but must wait ard 2 wks for shipment to arrive. Payment by CC or Paypal.

Both my headlamps and foglight on NB and the bulbs are made in Germany

Osram Cool Blue has a pretty short lifespan I believe, about a year. Do you know how long does Philips Blue Vision last?

The new version of Osram Silver Star supposedly can last as long as standard halogen bulbs too. Have you tried either one before, i.e. NB or SS? [:)]

LTA - Slighty whiter is capped @ 4000K colour & must be E-marked

Basically, pick between Philips Blue Vision or Osram Cool Blue.

Mmm... I can't seem to find any info on the internet regarding LTA's guideline on capping the headlamp light intensity at 4,000K. Does anyone have the link to this info?

Wow. That's quite a long lifespan for your Cool Blue bulb (I think even going by halogen standards!). Do you use your headlamps frequently, e.g. for at least 30 mins a day?

Recommend Philips X-treme Power. Only slightly whiter than standard bulbs, but much brighter and very long lifespan. It's also clear which I like, dislike the blue tint of the blue bulbs that you can see when the headlamp is off.

roads you drive on will affect the lifespan of halogens as their lifespan will shorten is driven on bumpy roads. The filament is prone to damange if used on bumpy roads and will burn out prematurely.

OK, did some homework for you.

it's at One motoring website, FAQ section

http://ask.lta.gov.sg/home/lta/explorefaq....ojectid=9274006

Quote:

"We require all designs of vehicle lamps to comply with the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction & Use) Rules and Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lightings) Rules. They must bear approved marking to show that they comply with internationally recognised standards, such as those adopted in the European Union countries, Japan and the United States. In addition, the lights emitted from the lamps must conform to the intended illuminated colour and intensity.

To date, we have been approached by Philips and Osram to evaluate some of their bulbs and have no objection to the use of Philips Blue Vision, Philips Silver Vision, Philips Vision Plus, Osram Silverstar and Osram Cool Blue bulbs as these models comply with ECE regulation and bear the ECE marking."

Tried before the 1st geneartion of Philips and Osram bulbs..sucks...Philips lasted only 1yr and Osram bulbs last about 8months. So disappointing and spent more money than normal halogen bulbs.

Anyway now me using another Philips bulb that says it will add 25% more distance throw etc...its a bit yellowish type and not white type...the light is much brighter and can throw further....been using it for 6 to 7 months already.
