Pisces69 6th Gear September 19, 2010 Share September 19, 2010 Hi guys, any to recommend? Am using my shampoo for it currently, not very good. Heard rainx will cause streaks. Is it true?? Which brand do u guys use? U use yr hair shampoo or car shampoo? Hair shampoo wil get into small crevices n later u wil get rust problem. Car shampoo usually hv rust inhibitors but not all. I just use water n it works very well. Some additives wil leave residue n clog up e jets or washer pump motor n tubings.
Pisces69 6th Gear September 19, 2010 Share September 19, 2010 What about just pre-mixing water with a pinch of Mama Lem0n (dishwashing liquid)...I do that sometimes. Recommended by a friend actually. Dishwashing liquid is very powerful n wil remove yr anti-rust in e body panels n later u wil hv rust problem.

Icyfreakass 1st Gear September 19, 2010 Author Share September 19, 2010 Car shampoo. Read the link given by one of the bros about just using water. Using water only will cause Legionnaires' Disease http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10293519

Pisces69 6th Gear September 19, 2010 Share September 19, 2010 Car shampoo. Read the link given by one of the bros about just using water. Using water only will cause Legionnaires' Disease http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10293519 U can get legionnaires disease from mainly acon cooling tower cos of e chemicals used n e water is recycled over n over again. I doubt we wil come into contact with such situations with our washer fluid n its constantly being renewed. Just like u might then say u can get legionnaires disease if u drink water from our water tanks on top of our flats. Lets not panic here as so far, i never heard of anyone getting it in SG even though we hv so many pple living in flats.
Babyt 4th Gear September 19, 2010 Share September 19, 2010 i been using tap water for years...nothing happen to me and my car. occasionally when it happens to rain outside, i will spray some window cleaner fluid and then wipe it off together w rain water once i drive out the MSCP. actually with window fluid or not, i dont see any difference. Picanto 3rd Gear September 20, 2010 Share September 20, 2010 Screenwash was mentioned, but they did not state what is the composition of screen wash. I only know of the traditional screen wash base material, which is spirit or alchohol. Maybe, they could be some neutral chemicals that we can use to prevent Legionnaires disease. With only one study, I find it hard to accept the research result. if there are more of such research, many more pple will be convinced. Right now, I'll still keep to topping up with tap water everytime I refuel. Tap water got chlorine, right? this is a reputable company afterall. perhaps you did not mix in the correct proportions? 5936 1st Gear September 20, 2010 Share September 20, 2010 I agree that ithey made some good stuff. At first I doubted too. But after a few dilutions, it is still smearing windscreen. Of course, there may be some other who may have other results. Maye it is just for my case.

5936 1st Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 Got tempted again. But I am very sure I did not over dose it. it said on the Son_x clear view 25mls to 2.5L of water. I added 50mls. measuring cup build in on top of bottle. Looking at the stores of car care products in my store room, I took out the windscreen additive again ( only used once before). I added 5mls only, and the result is fantastic. clean up windscreen without any smearing. But I will use up this bottle it will be first and last for years to come. No more additives. Tap water is good enough.

Darkblue 1st Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 Water (moist) + heat = best environment for bacteria growth. I'm just sharing info, $10-$12 windscreen washer fluid (last about 1 yr) to prevent bacteria growth, IMO I find its ok.

Sony 1st Gear September 22, 2010 Share September 22, 2010 I dont advocate use of premix as the chemicals is harmful to paint works. The residual leaves behind stains on the body works too. I have been using just water only for many years. but a few ago fell for the temptation of the Sonax clear view windscreen washer. But regretted after first dosage. Smearing of view and staining bodyworks. Got to dilute the washer tanks a few times to cleear that stuff away. So back to just water only. eh.. I had a sample pack of sonax before and that small little bottle of 20ml need 2L of water to be mixed before u pour in. so did u follow or just pour all in? I find that with the dilution, it give very good lubrication, esp when the wiper start to squeak ↡ Advertisement
