as per thread, sounds like a showy thread but really to discuss the delicateness of human relationship

when i say more, i mean at least 50% to a few times more.

how do you handle it. does your boss bear any semblance of hidden resentment.

and no i make much less than my boss,

Money can't buy power. So what if a subordinate earns more? He won't have decision-making powers, and thus has no direct control over his future. Boss means Boss, a high-performing subordinate is still a subordinate.

I once hired someone that is paid more than me almost 15 years ago. At that time, a specialist is required and I can't find a Singaporean hence a foreigner (Ang Mo) came in and got the job. Almost double. My boss told me I must be nuts to do that but we simply had no choice then. he worked for 2 years and ciao. By then, our guys had the expertise to manage. So treat it as a form of investment.

Regards,

My case could be special. We wanted to learn a skill or 2 from the expert so it worth the money to hire that someone who get paid higher than me. He provided the technical know-how and I just manage him. Anyway, at that time, my thought was he probably won't stay long with us [laugh].

it's definitely possible.

not many ppl will know because salary within a company is confidential. :-)

Usually the boss who hired you should know your salary right?

Having said that, some friends told me that they've worked in company that the hirer (HOD) don't know the subordinate pay. The HOD just make sure that guy fits the job. Salary package is handled by HR separately.

True. As individuals, we are masters of our own destiny. Dat's having control over our own future.

another possibilities... due to OT...

i was working in a public transport company 10 yrs ago. from my undestanding, an executive only earns 2K to 2.8k that time ... but an experience bus driver can easily make 3k monthly incl of OT & allowance. working hours wise, both executive and the bus driver almost the same but executive dont get paid for OT...
