Icedbs Turbocharged September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 Boiling "destroys" oxygen and minerals in the water. Meaning, boiled water is "dead" water. Especially, boiling chlorinated water speeds up the reaction between chlorine and humic acid to form THMS, which is known to be cancerous. So you are saying drinking boil water will lead to cancer? Wow..that's new. ↡ Advertisement

Hasegawa Neutral Newbie September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 From what I know, in developed countries, it's safer to drink from the tap than from PET bottles of mineral water or whatever because the bottle itself is slowly poisoning us as we drink from it... SimonTan 2nd Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 Just look deeper at your kitchen-sink/ bathing cubicle drain hole. Its slimy and promotes bacteria growth. Same thing happen to underground pipes and the building water tanks/pipings system. There are slime and mould in those tanks. The sun ray heating on those roof water tanks, cause the water vapour to condense on the tanks' wall, making it always moist => perfect place for bacteria and mould to grow! Also hopfully the water tanks' vent and overflow pipe is covered with a wire gauze to prevent cockroach/rats/lizards/moths to go inside the tank! I have come across MANY overflow pipe with rusted wire gauze or missing wire gauze. Rats, birds, any fark animals who is thirsty will crawl into the tank and drown inside. Good luck if you drink the liquidify solution of rat rotting bodies without boiling the water first!

India too. Edited September 15, 2010 by Tom_kkh

Jamstart 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 Interesting..... so did anyone think why shopping centers still selling electrics kettles or other mean of boiling utensils?
SimonTan 2nd Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 that article says boiling will make the nitrates n other poision in the water more concentrate is not really true. Unless u boil the water the Chinese way 'four bowls become one bowl', then of course the posion will get concentrated in that remaining boiled water. At most when we boil the water 1-2% of original volume is lost via steam. The overall ratio of volume vs nitraes/poison will be same as unboiled water. Still better to boil to kill off most of the bacteria and remove chlorine!

Throttle2 Supersonic September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 (edited) Contemplating to fill up water flask directly with tap water and chill it in the fridge. Please feedback. Thank you very much. Regards, Done that for the last 30++ yrs. Dont see any reason why I should do otherwise I believe it is a question of habit and also if your body is conditioned to take it or not. water from a tap that is frequently used is fine. of course if the water from your tap comes out blurry or tainted, then please dont drink that. Run the tap till water is clear at least. Edited September 15, 2010 by Throttle2 ↡ Advertisement
