E-Jazz Neutral Newbie September 14, 2010 Share September 14, 2010 Hi guys, I have quite a busy schedule lately, I was wondering on this: If I have no time to do shampoo wash etc, is it okay to just use normal water with MF cloth to do light washing and using chamois to dry it? Will it do any harm if lets say I do it once weekly or twice weekly? Also, should I use the cloth in a circular wipe motion when washing or go from side to side as in a straight line? Other items such as MF cloth which could be more suitable? I read about mitt or something. ↡ Advertisement

Hey there, I think there shouldn't be a problem if you're just using water as a form of a light rinse..howver NEVER use normal dishwashing soap to rinse your car..it will strip any layer of protective wax that you might have painstakingly added to the bodywork... E-Jazz Neutral Newbie September 14, 2010 Author Share September 14, 2010 but thought sometimes water will cause swirl marks I see. Will have to take note of it. If we wash and dry it instantly its lesser chances right?

Watwheels Supersonic September 14, 2010 Share September 14, 2010 (edited) ppl just got their new car lah... well if you asked me... swirl marks are practically impossible to advoid... minimize yes... and some colours more obvious... like black... for me, i just make sure i hose the car to loosen all dirt.... THEN i wipe dry... New car got a layer of clear coating from car manufacturer to protect the paint. Why wash it away with shampoo and stuff. Just use water rinse and wipe dry. I really wonder ppl has lost their sense of touch. If you slide your hand across a new car vs old car, the new car surface feels like the baby's bottom, smooth as silk...still need to shampoo to wash away the protection? E-Jazz Neutral Newbie September 14, 2010 Author Share September 14, 2010 As of right now, I am trying to search the term AA or AAS. Just saw an AA van near my work place helping a car start up etc. Was wondering if joining AA for a new car owner like me is necessary now or should I wait a couple of years later since the car is still new at this point, still trying to search it out though. Opel17 6th Gear September 14, 2010 Share September 14, 2010 wash car under shades/shelter/MCSP, as usually recommended by car shampoo instructions. Or else uneven drying cause water-marks, or if weather too hot, car owner fainted during car wash ↡ Advertisement
