I recently got the Starhub Family Hubbing pack and it comes with a free mobile internet package, so I got the data SIM card now.

 

Question is whether I can just get any 3rd party USB modem from the shops or do I need to purchase the USB modem stick at $68?

 

Hope someone can help me pleaseeeeeeeee! [laugh]

The 1mbps free card is extremely slow.

 

If you don't already have a smart phone, buying the darn USB modem is like $120 for the Huawei 7.2 mbps model.

 

My advise is to use your smart phone to tether using your data plan. If not, use the $ intended for the USB modem to get a smart phone that allows you to tether.

 

What I did with my free 1mbps card was to stick it in an iphone for my kid to use. (the stupid phone required a SIM card to operate.)
