His is a digestive issue. And very complex because he has overgroomed himself until he is almost botak. The overgrooming upsets his stomach, sh1t consistency, appetite and overall skin condition including the ears.

Once we can determine what is the root cause, can cure everything already. But for the past 5 years, I have not been able to pin it down.

I am trying out food allergy by using limited ingredient food, all food is free from grain and wheat gluten and fish. Damn difficult.

Could be due to stress, did you try the giving him L-Lysine like I told yo before? My sister's cat has the same issue,

tail all botak, now ok.

hairballs not too common, probably i would see hair in puke about once a week.

Hairball gel is to be eaten? or applied? its almost mission impossible to force tablet medicine down her throat. liquids is still doable with a syringe but also very difficult. Have to wait till she's sleeping haha. Imagine the shock while sleeping suddenly jaws get pulled open and fluids shoot inside throat. She become phobia of sleeping after that.

Normally just pukes out what she has eaten. Dry cat food. and the puke is undigested and always laid out really nicely on the floor. Never seen her puke after wet food though.

She has no problem with lao sai but used to have crystal in bladder which she was hospitalised for 1 week. Anyway quite old already 10 yrs old.

Btw, what do you guys feed your cat with? Dry food is friskies, wet food is the fussie cat and sometimes snacks of those dried sotong, or home cooked food.

We narrowed down to 2 factors: allergy and stress. Vet gave him an injection 2 weeks ago to see if it is allergy. Seems to be so. But allergy is damn hard to track down as it can be food, environmental etc.

I will have to wait until the injection impact is gone totally in another 4 weeks before I can try another method.

Hairball gel is in gel paste form, just open mouth and smear onto tongue, can liow. If not, then get foods that help with hairballs.

Bro. personally I think your meow got issues with food lah, Friskies is not good food at all, I feed mine Proplan and Royal Canin,

if old, you can look into Science Diet and Royal Canin. I never give Friskies nor those sold in NTUC or Seng Song.

Err...so long liow, you dare not open the mouth to feed ah? [laugh] [laugh]

Hairball gel is to be eaten? [Yes it is a gel to be eaten. It is quite appetising as most of my cats take it willingly. But don't feed too much or else LS. Follow the instruction. If it does not want to eat, apply it near the mouth. It will then attempt to lick it off. Looks like this.] or applied? its almost mission impossible to force tablet medicine down her throat. liquids is still doable with a syringe but also very difficult. sorry to say this but Friskies is no good. Cut out the snacks as well. Home cooked food will have to be no salt and balanced for the cat (they have different requirement from us) so it is not easy to do. Internet have quite a few recipes but you will need to add supplements and taurine which is essential for their eyes and heart.

My cats are on a combi of dry and wet food.

Dry: Natural Balance Duck & Green Pea formula (it's a limited ingredient food)

Wet: Wellness (grain free and human grade ingredient), Fussie cat (Chicken & vegetable), Bistro (it's tuna + chicken) and sometimes Fancy Feast Chicken & Liver. Wellness is their main wet food. The rest are more of a daily treat.

A few worthwhile brands you may wish to consider: Natural Balance, Purina ProPlan (MO is on this), Royal Canin (I was on this until I find that the main ingredient is corn) and so on. The pet shop can more or less advise you also.

As your cat is 10 years old, you may need to switch to a Elderly cat diet for it but this is dependent on its lifestyle, health, dental health etc also.

Thing is, none of mine are even allowed out of the house, and they don't sleep on car bonnets.

So this question, I can't answer you, besides, my MSCP don't have any cats either. :D

I don't mind. I would welcome them actually. The thing is that my block cat likes to sleep in a disused bicycle basket or sometimes she will survey the whole environment while on top of a tall lorry.

its not dunt dare to open the mouth, it difficult as she will struggle. Need to kiap her head between my legs to do that. afraid too much strength will hurt her... anyway i will try out the gel paste since. "Troy" right?

Why is friskies no good? too much salt? Other than the frequent puking, I would say by the look of her overall condition she is still pretty healthy at her age. Bright eyes, clean and well groomed.

Btw, here's a video of grass munching. i got those type of "rabbit" grass planted at my house corridor for my cat to eat. She can finish that whole lot in 3 days.

My male cat likes to do the things you mentioned especially the plastic bag thingy.....

He also vomits once every few days (you can see pieces of dry food pellets), probably due poor digestive system.....Following this, I never feed him dry food early every morning. I always start with wet food for him.....

I concur with you on the Friskies part.....My first cat died of kidney failure 6 years back. We started out feeding dry Friskies to her.

The rest of my cats now are on Science Diet Feline Senior (Dry) for Aged 7+ (including my 3 year old Siamese Cross) and the Angel Tuna cat food (Wet).....
