Can anyone tell me which month/year the first batch of C180 and C200 blueefficiency models were registered in Singapore and what are the difference between BE and the previous C180/200 models?

U referring to C180/200 Kompressor Blueefficiency or C180/200 CGI Blueefficiency?

Kompressor, I suppose. I am looking at around 1-2 years old C180/C200, CGI is very new or should I wait a while and buy CGI? Heard HP is about the same but FC better? Would be keen to know the difference between the 2 as well. Too many variants and they look the same to me.... is there a quick and fast way to differentiate and identify the various models? Tried to search and google but I must admit I am a little lost.

Visually, Kompressor and CGI looks the same, except for the rear badging which states either. Main difference is that merc has abandoned the kompressor and has now gone turbocharged for all the new CGI models, incorporating direct injection incl the new E-class. For the C180, it's now back to 1.8L for the latest CGI BE instead of 1.6L for the former Kompressor BE. On paper, bhp is the same but torque for CGI is higher by 20Nm. Driving wise, u can certainly feel the diffference as the CGI is typical of LPTs which is quite torquey n responsive at the low-end as the max torque starts to kick in from 1600rpm onwards, similar to many saab or volvo LPTs. And FC is supposed to be better as well.

Thanks for the concise and very clear write-up.

My experience with the new C200 CGI BE is pretty good. I have itchy butt and will usually swap car every 2-3 years (how can someone drive the same old car for 10 years?), so buying new is out of the question for me. I was hoping that the old C200K BE will not be very different from the new C200 CGI BE in terms of the drive, century sprint and handling. With less torque, it is definitely going to be less fun. Will try to test drive a C200K BE to feel the diff.

So.... when did C&C introduce/register the first C200K BE and the C200 CGI BE? Anyone can provide me with a rough timeline?

Did Cycle ever introduce C200K (Kompressor) BE? When I bought my previous C200k in Nov last year they only hv the C180K BE(1.6 lit). Subsequently they introduced the C180 & C200 BE(both 1.8 lit CGI).... Now for the E class both 200 & 250 BE (both are 1.8 lit CGI)...of course the difference are their bhp and torque... [:)]

Dun tink there was ever a C200 BE for the kompressor models. But since the introduction of the new 1.8L CGI E200 & E250, BE is now the norm for c-class too.

Since so many models are using the same base 1.8L CGI, won't be long b4 some tuner is able to break the code for an easy reflash. [sly] [sly]
