For an NA, just free flowing headers, and a nicely matched exhaust should free up some response and increase drivability, especially for automatic cars. A nice better flowing panel filter by K&N (if they make filters for your car) should also improve things a bit.

I don't quite understand why people go for gutted cats or straight through exhaust, unless you're pulling big power, your straight pipe won't do much. Especially when you get stopped by TP, you will kena jialat jialat.

bro basic physics has the continuity equation which shows that if you use a wider hose, the velocity of the fluid (in this medium, air) will decrease and the output of fluid is the same.

likewise for a thinner hose, higher flow rate

Anyone who has changed to a 4-2-1 header? Does it improve low end torque and pick-up? ^_^

Yes.. That's what they claim it to be. But I think Bo hua cos it cost 4 digits and it's illegal.imo

$150 is cheap! what car do you drive? I was quoted $280 for a customized 4-2-1 from MAN. Galvanized steel, not stainless steel... Still contemplating whether to go for 4-2-1 alone or de-cat + 4-2-1 or just de-cat. FK boss recommended to do up 4-2-1 + high flow cat as he said just de-cat may make the car perform worse... he charges $550 for 4-2-1 + high flow cat.

Any bro got any inputs can share? De-cat, De-cat + 4-2-1 or 4-2-1? All other pipings stock, car is 1.6L auto cerato and already installed semi-flow muffler.

For Galvanized Steel, any worries that it will crack ?

For high-flow cat, can pass inspection ?

Btw, care to share the contact for MAN ? I would like to enquire for my ride too. Thanks.

Heard from my engineers that galvanized steel over time will crack as it's only a layer of zinc protecting the steel underneath.. I also got a quote from RTES for a customized 4-2-1 @ $450. I can't remember if it's stainless steel or not..

I'm not very sure if high flow cat can pass inspection but I doubt so.. Anyway, MAN provides good service and workmanship is good. Been there a few times to install muffler + tip & cut spring.

Changing the cat will def fail inspection, well just change back to stock when the time comes.

Bro, you doing 4-2-1 to improve low, mid or high end? I done straight through so far for muffler only, at MAN also

Yup. I'm trying to improve low end cos my car is heavy... I thought straight through muffler is louder than semi-flow, so chose a semi-flow one. It did make the car feel lighter on acceleration, which in turn makes the car much more driveable.

Hi just wan to know is it possible to change a stock exhaust cat

to a hi flow cat ?

Yup, but its still illegal, and doesnt improve performance much anyways. Might as well remove the cat (:

hi all...

i need to know does a mid muffler effect power?...

ok i know the tail muffler straight through will probably add 1-2 maybe 2-3bhp over a stock muffler...

lets say the tail muffler is already straight through... will a mid muffler affect the exhaust flow and decrease bhp? or no difference even if it was a straight through from the extractors to the tail muffler...

thanks...

Any obstruction to exhaust wil likely affect yr top-end but makes yr car more driveable at mid n low end.

U try a straight tru all e way n if u can drive in everyday traffic, i salute u. :D:D:D

Plus without back-pressure, yr FC wil go sky-high. [sweatdrop]

hello brudder

Will a larger exhaust as compared to a narrower exhaust affect Fuel comsumption ?

Which is better more good F/C ?

Thank u.

Byebye.

If u use a much larger dia exhaust pipe, u must hang a small pail at e end of yr exhaust pipe to collect e unburnt fuel coming out. Every 20km, u stop n take e petrol collected n pour it back into yr petrol tank. :D

Do not fiddle too much with yr stock exhaust. Although some shops try to convince u its 'very easy' to get more power, its actually much more compicated than u think.
