September 2010 First Open Bidding Exercise

for Certificates of Entitlement

The details of the September 2010 first open bidding exercise for Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) are as follows:

Tender opens: Monday, 6 September 2010, 12 noon

Tender closes: Wednesday, 8 September 2010, 4.00 pm

Tender results: Wednesday, 8 September 2010

(Available on the www.onemotoring.com.sg website)

The total quota available for this tender is 1,966 for the following vehicle categories:

NON-TRANSFERABLE CATEGORIES:

Category A: Cars (1,600cc and below) & taxis 631

Category B: Cars (1,601cc and above) 479

Category D: Motorcycles 342

TRANSFERABLE CATEGORIES:

Category C: Goods Vehicles and Buses 204

Category E: Open Category 310

COEs for categories C and E are valid upon receipt until 14 December 2010 whilst COEs for categories A, B and D are valid until 14 March 2011.

Bid applications can be submitted through the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of DBS/POSB, the Internet Banking facility provided by Citibank and UOB, or via the OCBC phone banking services.

The bid deposit for COEs in Categories A, B, C and E is reduced by 50% from $10,000 to $5,000 per bid application for COE bidding exercises conducted from October 2009 to September 2010.

As the bid deposit of $200 for Category D is much lower compared to other COE Categories, there is no change to the bid deposit for Category D. All other terms and conditions for bidding of a COE remain unchanged.

During the bidding exercise, bidders can check on the status of their bids and revise their reserve price using these banks' services, the LTA Open Bidding website ( https://ocoe.lta.gov.sg ), or by calling the LTA Open Bidding Phone System at telephone number: 6362 1465.

Members of the public can check the current COE price on the One.motoring website (http://www.onemotoring.com.sg ) or on Teletext (Channel News Asia pages 521-523).

Although the COE Open Bidding System has been designed to handle large numbers of bids, transmission of bid data through the system could be delayed by external factors. Hence, members of the public are advised to bid early, as the system will only process bid submissions or reserve price revisions that reach the processing system before the closing time at 4.00 pm on 8 September 2010. Bid data that is sent to the processing system at the last minute, but fails to reach the system before the closing time will not be processed.

The restriction on second properties will likely allow more people to consider plonking down for a luxury car.

Going forward, I see the luxury car COE to shoot up the roof come year end.

Today is 3 weeks interval, looking at history, COE results is always will be higher than normal 2 weeks interval.

I agree with Simon, today the COE would rise for most Cat.....Unless there is some unknown factor...

Many ppl now not enuf $$ to buy properties, but 2nd or 3rd car still can. So my guess is ACROSS BOARD INCREASE.

People buy properties to invest/stay n value will appreciate, but car value will depreciate. [sweatdrop]

If COE shoot up to the sky at 100K a piece, it'll be a appreciating asset. [:p] Will sell off my ride and take B-M-W instead.

Those who have dabbled in property at the peak will now be sitting on paper loss/real loss if forced to sell off.

Maybe, just maybe, someone just book a BMW or Jaguar, and is funded by his profit from flipping condo. But then suddenly, the buyer cancel buy condo. He LL has to cancel buy car. All happened in the last 10 days...

Then the dealers have no time to refill the orders... >1600cc COE crash. ^_^
