Another parking complaint case:

Please remember that carpark lots do not belong to anyone in particular but are communal spaces used on a first-come-first-served basis, says STOMPer Pissed Off Neighbour, who was shocked to find this note on the windscreen of his visitor's car.

The person who left the note there is a foreign expatriate living next door to the STOMPer.

In an open-letter to the woman who wrote the note, the sender says:

"Dear Mrs Richards,

"We live in a tiny island of five million people. Yes, this tiny little island that you can barely see on a map has a whopping five million people.

"Living with this many people in a tiny space can get to us, but do practice a little tact and social grace.

"If you have something to say (not shout, say), do knock on my door and talk (not shout, talk) to me.

"I only live next door.

"And by the way, parking your car in an open communal space does not make it 1) a parking space and 2) your parking space for that matter.

"You accuse us of breaking 'conventions' and yet you were the first one to do so, by sticking this note on the windscreen of my guest's car.

"I am not sure what is is like where you come from but it is not how we do things in Singapore.

"I see your last decade in our country has taught you nothing. Go home, we don't want you here".

this probably happened in some landed property parking area? can't imagine anyone in hdb or condo daring to claim ownership to a particular parking spot.

Neutral Newbie

I don't think they gave the whole picture. Some condo will assign lot for each individual house, so if someone park in my lot I will be piss too. Mrs Richards may be trying to nice by just giving him a warning, if its me i will call the security to wheel cramp his car!! unless the ft stay in hdb....

If you read the reply...actually the guest of that ''next door'' neightbour parked in Mrs Richard parking space...Most private property had visitor parking lot so if the guest took her lot...I can understand her point....

what if you parked in front of someone's landed house? you're not allowed to park in front of their house? do they own the road and sidewalk in front of their house? It happened to me.. I found a similar note on my windshield...

She don't own that lot. It's belong to the LTA/URA.

Yes, she doesn't own dat lot unless it is a private property (not enuff info given) and the lot is indeed assigned to her. Furthermore if it is a condo, most likely there are visitor lots, and the visitor should park there and not at the residents' lot. Please be a courteous guest and abide by the house rules. I m sure we'd expect the same of those who visit our homes.

Having said dat, i agree that this mrs. richards could've just gone over and tell the neighbour instead of putting such an aggressive note. But then again, maybe she did dat before and the neighbour simply bo chup. Again not enuff info/history given.

Finally, SOS, how do u know that the lot belongs to LTA/URA? Correct me if i'm wrong, from wat i know LTA doesn't own carpark lots. Those in HDB estates are owned by HDB and all the other public carpark lots are owned by URA. Obviously, this being a residential area so its either HDB car park or private residential carpark - it can't be URA, let alone LTA.

I actually saw a note of similar wording pasted on one of the cars parked in a HDB MSCP. [sweatdrop]

never happened in my condo before..even if visitor parked at non-visitor lots, residents usually are gracious enough to close one eye..it's the security which is more siao on going around checking whether visitors parked in the correct lot onot..
