NightWind 4th Gear September 6, 2010 Share September 6, 2010 NightWind: Haha, thats why your friend's a chemist. :) Dirty car + water with a non abrasive cloth + wiping = swirls and scratches. The grit you drag around the paint from the car will cause the imperfections. I always believe in shampooing, in my case OPT ONR, at least there is some kind of lube present. Anyway, i rather spend money on shampoos etc etc rather than a new paint job. I was like u...thought like that...shampooed and polished my 1st 3 cars. Simple Yes or No Question; HAVE U TRIED IT YORSELF BEFORE YOU POST? I HAVE. FOR OVER A YEAR. u come and see my coupe...no swirl marks n no scratches.... I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT SINCE I TRIED IT MYSELF AND SAW THE RESULTS instead of making speculations and assumptions. Enuff said...u go use more shampoo....lets see whose paintjob lasts longer.... ↡ Advertisement
President Neutral Newbie September 7, 2010 Share September 7, 2010 (edited) Hurhurhur..... A good example is by Ah Neh. Ah Neh don't use shampoo to wash car ma!!! Btw, how does a shampoo cause damages to our paint? Edited September 7, 2010 by President
Nzy Twincharged September 7, 2010 Share September 7, 2010 Even if it causes damage I doubt it will affect us much cuz cars here mostly last less than 10 years. For my previous car when I scrapped it at 10 years the paint still looked new although I have been using shampoo to wash it once or twice per week. NightWind 4th Gear September 10, 2010 Share September 10, 2010 Even if it causes damage I doubt it will affect us much cuz cars here mostly last less than 10 years. For my previous car when I scrapped it at 10 years the paint still looked new although I have been using shampoo to wash it once or twice per week. So what you are saying is that you are paying to buy and use a shampoo cause it DOES NOT CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE to car? Sorry i dont subscribe to "logic" like that. If you really really must spend $$$ and buy something at least get an Enzo wiper which has proven pantented technology to clean only with water and take out the oil via mechanical cloth fibre as opposed to environmentally hazardous chemicals. See: http://www.enjo.net/#/int/welcome-pages/welcome-page-3 See: http://www.cleansingapore.biz/ There used to be a loony who told everyone the world was round....and they all refused to belief, afterall it seemed to rediculous then....hmmm Of cause he could not show humanity back then a real picture of the globe.. But I can let u see first hand for yourself my 1 yr old coupe. U bring your car and use 10 tonnes of chemical shampooo, then u park your car beside my car and we can see if there is a big diff.... BTW some of my frens already did the above test...and although they still refuse to totally abandon shampoos and polish, at least now they use shampoos only say once a month (down from every weekly wash)... But hey, u know what...maybe i am really also bluffing all of u...purposely leading all of u on...ask yourself what do I have to benefit? I am not selling you anything. Instead I am telling u all u need is good clean water and lots of patience. Even the Enjo cloth is not necessary and I dont use it but if some of u really die die must spend money...u can at least spend it on this...

E-Jazz Neutral Newbie September 12, 2010 Share September 12, 2010 +1. I maintain using DG product from day one and paint is as good as new. I have not send to any groomers to do. Hi President, I am now reading on Duragloss product and am quite curious on the following: My agent mentioned to me that new cars need not require polishing as those are for older cars which needs a new shine. He suggested that if I want to do anything, it should be Waxing. Firstly, I have no idea whats the difference between Wax and Polish. Secondly, whats your take on the above that I have mentioned based on your experience? Lastly, I haven't notice any Duragloss product that is Wax. Do they have it? Wax is to protect the paint but polish is to remove defects. By right a new car should not have any defects so don't require polishing just need wax to proect the paint. But i have ever detailed a brand new car that was just collected from the dealer and it had alot of swirls already.

Do they have it? bro, DG105,951 and 111 are all wax.... i understand that polish is mainly a cleaning agent which is to clean off all unseen dirt and containments on our ride while wax is for paintwork protection..... sealant can be used in replacement of wax too.... but think many of us would use a sealant 1st then put wax; just for additional protection....:) as regards to new cars, i believe by waxing it when 1st collected will help u in easier maintenance of the paintwork.... just a guide; if u try push/pull your fingers on the clean paintwork and u can hear the "metal" striking sound,it means the car is not protected with sealant or wax./......( this is what i understand) tested with my friend's mazda3......:)
Redplanet Clutched September 12, 2010 Share September 12, 2010 Just sharing... I have been thru the stages of detailing, with my very 1st car to now my 3rd.... Washing on my own, waxing on my own to sending for professional grooming nowadays.... Everyone has their own preference, depending on time and budget...but the point i wish to mention is that I took real good care of both my previous cars....but when the time came for me to sell them after falling for another... I just let them go.... Thinking back... it seems so "wasteful".....sigh. Sianz rite? oh well.....

Appreciate it. Didn't realize DG105,951 and 111 are wax. Can hardly understand what those numbers mean. Why didn't they come up with easier names? or were there names to begin with and only season users use these numbers to identify the products?
