Should Kia create a convertible? A Koup Convert maybe?

Hi everyone,

Me being a convertible lover was just wondering, do you think that Kia should come up with

a convertible?

Its latest Kia Koup has an edgy and sexy design to it. With such designs, I was thinking...

hmm maybe they can come up with a more contempary convertible design.

What do you all think?

Good idea but it has to be a good convertible. Taking a Forte, chop off 2 doors and the roof is not the answer pls. Make a good convertible or roadster! Using torsion bar for rear suspension on a convertible is crap man!

a Kia Ceed convertible is already in progress....

not sure if they'd apply the same to the Forte though....

cool? really?

a garang roadster would be awesome!

Convertible are not as easy to build as most think. And it's not as easy to "chop" off the roof as it compromises the rigidity of the overall chassis. For eg I read that the 370Z convertible is a completely different car from the coupe, it's redesigned & rebuild all over in order to maintain that rigidity on the chassis. It's very expensive for a car manufacturer to do smth like this.

If the car manufacturer do the easy "chop here" and "chop there", dan what you get is a wobbly handling convertible, good only for showing off.

1.6 can,

but please make it turbo....

they're launching the 2.0Turbo 275bhp in the Genesis Coupe, i45 and K5 first....

if it bodes well,

it'll be seen in other range in their product line-up as well....

They already have the 2.0T engine out for a while that is similar to the 1 running in evoXs (different turbo, intake+exhaust manifold)

It pushes only 210bhp. I know u like 2 theory talk alot but pls at least get ur facts right la, dont anyhow give misinformation lei.

true true. for a pragmatic company like hyundai/kia, they rather use a coupe as their halo model rather than a convertible - saves money.

Not that KIA do not have higher cc models, just tht its not available in SG. And i think sgeans do nt want to spend so much on a kimchi car.

Can google for Kia k7.. Very solid looking car! Saw lots of them the road when i was in south.korea. Fell in love with it immediately.

DRL, LED rearlights like audi.

I noticed that south koreans seldom mod their car even like simple rim change. They leave their car like totally stock:

Nobody ever said that Kia is going to convert a Koup into a convertible.....

The concept is based on a C'eed and C'eed has a multi-link like the i30.....

There is nothing wrong with torsion beams, the best handling hot hatches are the Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup, Megane 250 Cup, R26, R26.R and they all use torsion beam but I can tell you that their torsion beam cost many times more than a regular multi-link or double wishbone.
