Kurty Supercharged August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 hi may i seek some advise on de-cat. so far, did anyone do it and pass inspection? from what i was told, de-cat is good and give extra bhp though not environment friendly. and those guys who 'operate', cut and clear on the top whereby it will looks good to pass inspection. was quoted $60. not sure if this is the correct price. and usually how many Cat does a car has? 1 or 3? was also quoted $250 for an aftermarket muffer with installation. thinking of going MAN to seek their opinions. ↡ Advertisement
Prostcode Clutched August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 Your quotes quite expensive. I was quoted $30 de-cat for my EG + $150 for 5Zigen exhaust that time. MAN ROCKS!

Carer 2nd Gear August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 without cat confirm plus chop fail inspection. please do not hear from others. go ahead and de cat den update yourself. hearsay will always be hearsay. the car's stock ecu and tuning is tuned in mind with the exhaust flow with cat on. don regret, the cat itself cost a lot. Yeobh 4th Gear August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 (edited) With such illegal modifications you will loose money and have many headaches. Yr ride ECU will be unable to switch from open to close and that means yr ride engine will always on rich side. You will never be able to pass the exhaust emission test which is a major and therefore any repeat tests will cause you money. Good luck and happy driving PS all OEM original cats are machine TIG weld, modified cats have too may telltale signs in their manually executed weldings finishing and others. VICOM at Kaki Bukit, AMK also.... as for modified cats, there are high flow cats with are approved (i think its waste of money)... i have never heard of ppl modifying the cat, but rather replace with high flow or take out totally... but maybe LTA emmission tests might have different machines compared with Vicom or STA... this i'm not sure... Ladykillerz 4th Gear August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 i was also being told that de-cat will not pass the car inspection. perhaps depending on your luck. some damn ON, while some just inspect for the sake of inspecting. till date, i did not hear anyone complaining of de-cat and fail inspection? nonetheless, i believe they are some already de-cat and driving happily. you weigh your balance.~

5936 1st Gear August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 Not enough power? After de-cat, what next...extractor, add TC, etc. So you bought a wrong car lah. Buy a more powerful car next time. I hate those that de-cat without due care for the environment. Do it the proper way. Get the approved high flow cat for your model.
Kurty Supercharged August 22, 2010 Author Share August 22, 2010 Thanks for the great views. 30 for de cat is really cheap loh. I just tried calling MAN, guess they are closed on Sunday. I'm driving a manual, 1.1 So the emission test is for the cat, interesting. Good point there, de cat seems gd but if touch wood fail the test. May have a problem is getting a replacement cat. For the exhaust, think of going straight through. My ride is an opc so inspection is on 3,5,7,9yrs May I ask what is bullet? I saw my friends ride, removal of the Milo tank. Said to be very good but way too noisy. Not going for such. Best part is I went to do soundproofing with him , with that, not diff inside his car
Yeobh 4th Gear August 22, 2010 Share August 22, 2010 I understand under LTA ruling petrol cars imported into Singapore must come equipped with approved cat. If your ride is before this ruling there is no need to have a cat. LTA have since ( not sure of the date) is only a licensing and enforcement agency, all testings of new type-approved vehicles imported are inspected by the authorised stations. Many car owners place dummy cat in position just to try and fool the inspectors. PS Pl hold yr horse , you sound very angry and unhappy. Have nice Sunday.
