WHEEL SPACERS YOU USING???

i've been wanting to ask this for a very long time liao keep forgetting...

from my knowledge, wheel spacers are mainly to clear bigger calipers... those who are using it, any wheel vibrations at high speeds?

SOME... only some cars look good with wheel spaces... i always believe a wider wheel base will make the car look better... but if your car is not designed to fit wider wheel base than the car will end up yucks...

i am probably not making myself very clear... [laugh] .... hmmm

ok example... i feel lah... wheels to far out for these cars look yucks... 1st gen Mazda3, Estima, Avante.... its like there's no swallon wheel arc and the design of the car fenders just look bad with wheels out of the body...

anyways just wanna know if you are using wheel spacers and WHY?... many thanks...

thanks for your response bro...

actually i'm asking this cause i feel like putting wheel spacers on my rears... but i'm an FF car... doing so might kill my car's balance... have you heard of ppl only doing front or rear only? dub perhaps but just wanna know...

and your wheel spacer how thick ah? got size one i remember seeing... and you lowered? got bars? or did nothing except spacers??

thanks

for wheel spacers dont get those universal type.

customize a set.

leong seng at paya ubi does a great job of it.

they will measure with a ruler and a string, then you will get the exact thickness that you require.

if your bolts arent long enough they will make those spacers for you that comes with the bolts.

i only did it for my rear because i had a pair of customised wide fenders on the rear.

no issues with balancing as well.

Hi TS, from you avatar i guess your are driving a Nissan sunny? Im driving one as well. My view is get customize ones which would be stable at high speeds. Im on 15mm spacers with extended bolts to clear BBK and to make it flush with the fenders and intending to put 10mm ones for the rear which i already have but yet to find longer bolts. So far no vibrations at all during high speeds. For FF cars, front track should be wider than the back for better traction in corners imo.

if budget is a concern , hub centric spacers with long bolts if spacer thickness is more than 8mm.

but of course it is always better to get proper offset rims rather than using spacers.

sunny with BBK.... rare find nowadays... keke...

well you're right... cause i'm asking to see if i can put spacers on my rear... but i dnt want it to handle with too much difference... my front is so close to the fenders its already hitting when i get deep bumps once in a while...

by the way i'm oversized on 205/16/55.... think i should have gotten 50s... arghhhh

Bro, I don't think this is a good idea.

Your FF car is probably biased for understeer right now. Making your rear further out will make the rear more reluctant to turn out, increasing your understeer even further.

I guess you feel the rear doesn't look very nice. But much better to maintain the handling than go for looks but making your car more "dangerous."

Some of the advice given by the other bros was good. Ideally go for rums with the required offset rather than use spacers. But if still going for spacers, customise them with hub centric rings (prevents vibrations) rather than use universal ones. Also, anything more than 5mm and you should probably need to change to long bolts, otherwise your nuts will not be able to latch on to enough thread.

hi bro, roughly how much its cost for a 5mm hub centric spacer?

mine is 20mm... nv lower... my ride quite high so i widen the wheel track... improve overall stability ... only time will vibrate very hard is when my air pressure too high... other den that np! ^_^

I do use spacers on my Celica because my wheels are of the wrong offset. It a set of custom made spacers. From what I have heard, spacers will damage your wheel bearings.

I have already replaced 1 rear wheel bearings. Don't know if its because its due to spacers or because I kana kerb.
