Please advice the noise level generated if we compare:

Yokohama Earth 1 EP 400 Japan made (Grip like S-Drive, Sound Generated like DB ES 501) Vs Michelin Pilot Sports 3 (Thai).

For anyone who has deep pockets then go for PS3. The Yoko are for someone with shallow pockets.

My car size is 215/50/17 - S drive would cost me about $180 per tire. PS3 is $300.

from the matrix diagram

i dont think it is anywhere as grippy as sdrive or as quiet as dna db

it seems to be the replacement for db series instead

u are better off lookin at kumho ku31

at least it grips better and cheaper but more noisy

Would you say PS3 if better than Yoko Earth 1 in this case?

Very hard to tell from the brochures.

If you mention that the difference is $40, so this Yoko earth is on high side.

If only small diff, I will get the Michelin PS3.

I only use Goodyear RVS- no deep pocket. only broken pocket.. :D

ps3 is a little tame compared to ps2 in terms of design, as its a compromised design to replace 15-16 inch sizes in preceda range as well

but i am sure michelin knows what they are doing and test reviews have shown its still at the top few of the pack

earth is just a glorified "db" series successor trying to ride on environmentally eco credentials, whether they are proven or not is another thing

it doesnt make much difference when u have a "greener tyre" and burning petrol the other end

i am currently on PS3 and i can assure you it entirely eclipses CSC3, P zero rosso in terms of performance and grip and quietness

very possibly the best tyres on the market

BROTHER you are comparing a Honda CIVIC Hybrid (yokohama) and BMW M3 (PS3)

is not a practical comparision.

Factors : performance for Dry/wet/nosie ? BMW will fine it wasting time to comparing M3 vs Hybrid

If you have to factor in the Cost/Origin you will probably buying a tyre not meeting you expectation.

Happen to see the brochure showing comparision between Yokoham own family product

Old quiet model Aspec A300 vs New Earth 1 EP400,

the later has a shorter BRAKING distance of 9.2M braking from 100km/h (our Expway speed)

can you imaging how much shorter distance can a better tyre do.

if 1 have to do a test Yoko A300 vs PS3 you can think of the braking distance could be as far as more than 10M which is about 3-4 car lenght.

So think carefully when you looking for a set of Tyre

Braking distance is a factor that usually we forget, and always said i dont drive fast

Thinking of PS3 for my next tires. You use CSC3 previosly and how does PS3 compared to CSC3 in the wet gripping?

Thanks

PS3 should outperform CSC3 for wet

CSC3 is designed more for a sports summer market in EU while PS3 is designed with asia region in consideration

CSC3 thread design is very good for high performance cars and straight line acceleration with the continuous thread blocks around , but such design not as good for wet drainage

the inner void thread block for void a little too tame also

looking at F1 asymmetric and PS3 design its obvious its more wet oriented

for wet/dry/handing/comfort, F1 asym > CSC3

i not used PS3 before on my car

PS3 should compare with F1 or other max performance tyres...

not comfort or *yikes* green tyres.. ^_^

will be interesting to pit F1 Asy with PS3

based on theory

both sidewalls abt the same, but F1 asym a bit stiffer

handling : on par

dry : on paper f1 threadwear lower..

wet : f1asym for sure

noise : at 50% , my f1 still pretty quiet surprisingly

i would say both tyres are within 10% of each other comparing everything...but price

PS3 15/16 inch is preceda price while 17+ is PS price...price will be the dealbreaker

my size is abt 70$ each tyre more

some tyre shop reading this pls sponsor me a set PS3 half price i give a 3 way FR [laugh]:D
