To some people its a matter of principle. After suffering (real or imagined) great injustice, its natural to want justice.

We may laugh at her now... but if she wins, she will then be held up as an example of never giving up, triumphing after great struggle etc etc.....

Asking for reinstatement? And her grounds are simply irregularities in the way she was dismissed. If the court makes an order that allows her to be reinstated on this basis, it is as good as saying that employers cannot breach the employment contract during dismissal. That goes against the fundamentals of contract law, where parties are free to breach contracts provided they are willing to compensate for the loss caused by their breach.

 

She should just take the 6 month compensation and move on with her life.

For a civil servant to get dismissed it must have been a monumental feat from her.

 

This is very TRUE. Basically, just do your job, say YES more often than MAYBE (never NO), (pretend) to be supportive even if you're not, achieve all you're required to do (with great fanfare, so that bosses all know about it; no matter if the job was done in an inefficient way... just ask for the budget you require - spend, spend, spend but must get it done). Easy to survive and maybe, prosper, in public svc and stat board, actually.
