helo....minister....dun give me that kind of crap loh....purchase energy-efficient/environmental friendly bus/train, employ FT to drive buses, deploy driverless trains, all these should reduce operators operating costs otherwise what for spend money for all these. No company in the right frame of mind will want to spend money to increase operating cost.

68% pay 1-2 cents less.

32% pay 10-20 cents more. [laugh]

Just my guess. Why they omit how much 68% save? They don't have the number?

Neutral Newbie

have you guys noticed that we're paying more on this so-called distance-based fares? or is it just me.

i do take the train or bus once in a while if i'm not driving.

in any case, a raise in fares is an outrage! [rifle]

PUBLIC-TRANSPORT operators face a permanent fare-revenue dip of $88 million a year because of the distance- based fare system, Transport Minister Raymond Lim said yesterday.

This is like saying the glass is half empty. Why not put it in such a that says the glass is half full?

I can always say they are profiting $88mil extra every year for the past many years.

obviously those Ministers don't know what they are doing....

all they know is to read from scripts....

a loss of $88million by transport operators ever since they used the Distance-Based Transport Fare Scheme???

more like $88million earned bah....

and where did they get such a nice figure, 88???

utter nonsense....

but then,

i must say,

from where i stay,

(far from the city)

fortunately,

getting on a train during peak hours is still possible....

those nearer to the city....GOOD LUCK!!!

and since it's getting pretty much impossible to drive,

i'd actually rather take public transport than drive.....

at least can oogle at pretty girls....

Like that good mah. As long as they hire imbeciles to write their scripts we can continue to joke about it. Previously was the "freak flood which happens once in 50 years", now we have "$88mil" to play around with. [lipsrsealed][laugh]
