Bystander50 5th Gear August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 1. STB will announce we have another xx% increasse in tourist coming to sg. 2. IRAS will collect more GST from the expenses and spendings. 3. Hotel room bookings up --> signs of economy "recovering". 4. There'll be lots of Volvos and buses put up on lelong sale after the event. More revenue for LTA when COE up. Add cheap Acer laptops and Samsung handphones. 5. Looking at long term gains, GST will increase after erection to recover the overshot budget. Felipe 3rd Gear August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 Take F1 race....do you find any different? of course. look at the number of advertisers for F1. Compare that to YOG and you get the difference. You're talking about the no.1 motoring sports event in the world vs the Youth Olympics. I don't even begin to dare question the gap between them. Rollagt 5th Gear August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 Its called Visiblity. Fcw75 Hypersonic August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 I only know that after this and 2011 elections, GST will go up to 10% which is their target in the first place. Must remember, GST helps the poor!
Johorat 1st Gear August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 Its called Visiblity. Only when the red dot is visible world wide, investors will be aware of its existence and more convinced abt its capabilities. Kangadrool Supersonic August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 At least F1 and YOG got the support from gahmen. The Singapore stopover and inport yacht race of Volvo Ocean Race in 2008/9 did not garner enough support from people and gahmen here. The exhibition at Sentosa Race Village was free and yet attendance was disappointing and worse for the race. Think, they won't be coming back again. NightWind 4th Gear August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 1. Well.. ministars will probably get an increment for job well done, and secure the position as highest paid ministars for another decade Apart from the million dollar ministars increments common folks like us wont see any benefits from F1, YOG or increases in GNP/GDP. If anything the F1 & YOG are a real pain; a) Traffic Congestion, road closures b) Day in day out listen to that silly propaganda PAP song on radio untill i wana puke c) TV channels all filled with boring YOG events that no body cares about d) For F1 the Sun Tec retailers lose heaps of $$$ due to loss of business from road closures. The PAP's propaganda machine (Shitty Times) will of cause say that out of the millions spent on events, millions of revenue are also generated. Of cause where that all goes, how any of the revenue reaches common folks like us, will remain a complete mystery.
Thaiyotakamli Supersonic August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 I only know that after this and 2011 elections, GST will go up to 10% which is their target in the first place. Thaiyotakamli Supersonic August 16, 2010 Share August 16, 2010 by the way r u sure SYOG benefit SG?? it only benefit in term of publicity. but the congestion everyday cause millions losses and did not benefit singaporean. apart of hotel room increase, more rev for gahmen, i see nothing beneficial about YOG! ↡ Advertisement
