Reina gifts point to Gunners

Jose Reina's late howler enabled Arsenal to snatch a draw from a thrilling Premier League opener at 10-man Liverpool.

The Liverpool goalkeeper saw the ball rebound off him after Marouane Chamakh had hit the post in the final minute at Anfield to cancel out a David Ngog strike.

The goal was reward for a late spell of Arsenal pressure but it was unfortunate for Liverpool, who had survived most of the second half unscathed after the sending off of Joe Cole.

The big-name summer signing from Chelsea was dismissed on his league debut for a reckless challenge on Arsenal debutant Laurent Koscielny

He push the ball + himself into the net ........ [:(][:(]

Well................... after watching last night match, Liverpool on firing again ........ [smash]

Someone should have told him to use the baseball cap

like Bruce Grobbelaar.

The Anfield pitch is East - West so Liverpool always

put high balls to blind the keeper with the sun.

Unfortunately Arsenal used this old trick by luck

rather than knowledge. :D

cant blame him that much. i tink in the 1st place it was a foul against him. he caught the ball 1st, den chamakh banged into him. but gd fight by pool, considering whole half wif 10 men.

He did his best liao la...

Credits to him...

But i think Joe cole's red card is kinda harsh....... [bigcry] [bigcry]

Yest's match....Arsenal seemed to dominate the whole midfield and control the possession very well...

Passing by Arsenal was good....

Have to admit 1-1 is a good result [thumbsup]

I won't blame him for that OG. The ball came back off the post and towards him and Reina simply cannot react in time. As for Chamakh, not sure if he did foul Reina prior to it, need to watch it again.

Joe Cole's sending off is harsh, I think we should appeal to cut the ban. Ngog's goal shows his level of confidence now. Great goal by the lad. Amid his desire to leave, Mascherano put in all his heart on the pitch. Fully deserved the standing ovation when he was subbed. It was his assist as well for Ngog's goal, MOTM for me.

Deputant Milan did well. Encouraged by his speed and physical strength. Good technique on the ball as well.

Apart from reverting back from Zonal to Man marking, another change Roy made in his regime, is to inform the players who will be playing 24 hrs in advance, as opposed to 2 hrs by Rafa. Pros, players selected will be more mentally prepared. Cons, opposition will know your selection way before hand and prepare for it. Hence, you lose that element of surprise.

In his post-match interview, Roy praised Mascherano. When quizzed on whether he will be selected for the Europa match this coming Thurs, his reply was "why not? Mascherano is still a Liverpool player". But his followed on to say that Mascherano had a thigh strain, so will see if he can recover in time. Very diplomatic answer. We all know he will not select Mascherano for sure.

Overall, 1-1 is a good result. Bring on Citeh!

LFC going for administration ?

Unlikely. Didn't Broughton say that there are a number of bids on the table for the Board to consider? We will not go into administration as long as we can get a new owner by Oct 2010.

I like that kind of spirit of play by Pool last night................. [thumbsup]

it was not a foul.. reina did not catch the ball at all... chamkah intercepted the ball before reina could catch it... but i do admit at first glance it seems that chamkah barged into reina...

Liverpool display a determination seldom seen last season.

felt that the sending off actually galvanised them.

Shouldn't be too harsh on Reina.

Good to see defending well in corners, not sixers and sevens........

Lots of positive in last night's game, especially for 6-7 mins when down to 9 men, following Agger's concussion,

with Maxi playing at Left Back, Torres playing left midfield.

Also Torres'cameo appearance, hoped he's on road to recovery and match fitness......
