THE budget for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) has surpassed original estimates of $104 million by more than three times.

The projected government spending for the 13-day Games in August will now be approximately $387 million.

Enough said. [rolleyes]

Make Singapore known to the world is good but how abt spending that excessive amount of money on it's own citizens?

Please don't suggest this to them, they will take back at least double whatever is being spent on the citizens

All I can say is you sxxk....Call yourself a S'porean and u take no pride about what we have come so far....if u feel "lao kwee", please don't try to clock post by starting this type of thread....what are u trying to prove? It only tell ppl you have not been educated well enough to start something more educative but rather negative thread.....

For the information of others, because of this YOG thing and F1, Singapore is known to the world......

You mean we were unknown to the world until YOG this year and F1 the last 2 years?

I think the ban on chewing game made us more famous and "known" to the world.

Rant what you want, I still stick to my point. Weahhhhhh! [laugh]

They already did. Time and time again, they give us a drumstick to entice you. After a while, they will take 1 WHOLE chicken back from you.

One thing's for sure, YOG Opening Ceremony sux big time. Damn lao kwee watching it, no creativity at all.

PATHETIC!! I rather watch my goldfish poop. [laugh]

What do you think?

I find it very ndp like. Also the section on the different countries coming out is extremely boring ...one person hold board, one person hold flag and goes on for nearly 20 -30 minutes. Might as well just do a slide show introducing the different countries. A better way is to incorporate that introduction with a story......so that there is something to watch as the reps come out with their flags.

Also, the show section is basically dancing and more dancing. Since this is a youth sports, why not have a section that show X-sporters doing extreme sports using blades, skateboards, BMX, etc. Inject some energy and excitement please. Yes, dancing is also energy, but when it is too much, it gets boring.

The lighting of the torch is very good though. Something new. That's the only thing that wake me up.

Overall, it's the visual effects, lightings, fire-works that is worth remembering. The show segment is extremely dull

not sure if YOG does make SG known to the world. With hardly any commercial appeal in this, it's difficult to sell SG to the world. Sports is good advertising. But sports need big names. There's none in YOG. no wonder i don't see aggressive advertising from companies.
