Kelpie 2nd Gear August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 Hi there, I watched a TV show about zero emission technology and chanced upon this CAT car invented by the French. Guess what? it is a conceivable and commercialized car not some concept car. So i decided to browse the web for more information: http://www.gizmag.com/go/3523/ http://www.gizmag.com/compressed-air-car-s.../picture/42549/ It is actually being sold in France. There is no battery needed. Cost next to nothing to run (no petrol). Take about 3 minutes to re-charge and can do it at home (of course, only when you have a landed house or office area). For added power and convenience, there is also a hybrid version. Regards, ↡ Advertisement

Kelpie 2nd Gear August 12, 2010 Author Share August 12, 2010 2004 article leh, supposed to be release end of 2004/early 2005, no big headline news of it til now, can assume dead? You are right man...further searching into TATA motors India, who supposedly bought the development, realized that they mentioned it was still in development back in 2007 and in December 2009, it seems that they acknowledged difficulties in the low engine temperature and the limited range. It looks like they are not keen to lanuch it any sooner. Aiyo. I must have watched an old TV show should which was shown during the National Day by Starhub. What a joke! SimonTan 2nd Gear August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 Just storing the compressed air in a very huge tank. Releasing the pressurized air to push the pistons engine to run the gears and wheels. Think of the fuel explosion, now replaced by compressed air. Same theory. Range will be enough to go marketing and short trip. CNG and Petrol has higher energy value weight-to-weight vs compresser air. Its just whether people will like the short travelling range or not. Compressed air Techonology is mature and easy to implement at recharge station. But problem is consumers to accept it.
