Regular maintenance is always good. It keeps the car in optimal condition. [thumbsup]

True. I stopped being penny wise n pound foolish a long time ago.

Especially with an ex purchase like a car. Last time try this try that. If really want to say, mostly all dont work n some cause damage to e car.

Now i just take my car as a slave to me n just make sure it is maintained as per handbook.

I let others b guinea pigs to test those claims by pple selling those snake oils.

That was quite long ago. Currently Mobil 1 only suggest that 15,000 mile or one year interval is safe, even with their extended performance series.

Ref: http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/motoro...e_faqs.aspx#top

Many things has changed since then. Engine performance are increasing, and requirement on environment protection are in place. Also engine oil has been evolving. Even Mobil 1 had been shifting from the mostly PAO base oil (Group 4) towards a Group 3+ baseoil VISOM since Y2003. It is likely most of the Mobil 1 is majority Group 3+ with PAO for correcting its performance.

Ref: http://www.lubereport.com/e_article000130105.cfm

Currently, I don't think either the car engine manufacturer or engine oil manufacturer would guarantee 100,000km usage.

It was SAE 0W-50 which deliver a irritating vapour when you drive (toxic?)

100,000km test to confirm 10,000km service life feasiblility only?

Do you mean you like to cook the rice after you have eaten? New things for me to learn?

I believe the simplest instrumentation for owner-drivers is the oil pressure warning light. If it does not switch off as soon as usual, the pressure is likely to be too low for that point in time. Change oil filter end replensih eninge oil (sometimes forgot to monitor mileage if the service sticker missing from the door jamb)

most cars have 2 trip meters...

my trip A is for mileage on my full tank...

my trip B is for my oil change....
