Xtrocious 1st Gear August 24, 2010 Share August 24, 2010 I've been streaming bpl live on my SH... no lag for 90 min leh Lag and downloads are two different things... Lag happens when there is a delay or even breakdown (packet loss) in the communication between the two computers... This is most obvious during online gaming - your computer sends a data package to the server and the server takes a long time to response - and because the games function on these rapid exchanges between the two, any delay would cause things to be drastically different... The delay in data exchanging is less critical in downloading and streaming

Boyboy 1st Gear August 28, 2010 Share August 28, 2010 Same here. Supposedly they recently upgraded my plan to 16Mbps but speedtest.net I tested hovers between 1+Mbps to 3+Mbps... I think it's time SH upgrade their old system to cater for mobile & home internet. With the increasing number of ppl signing up for mobile data plan for iphone, ipads, laptops and handphones, it's slowing down the internet speeds. If this continues I will have to switch to Singtel which has more consistant internet speeds. i never noticed any difference after downgrading from 8 to 2 mbps. but i do notice my download speeds INCREASED after i upgraded my router. so i'm sticking with 2mbps connection. speedtest on 2mbps shows 2mbps performance. good enuff for me. Boyboy 1st Gear August 29, 2010 Share August 29, 2010 router compared to direct cable link any difference if u have sh!t router like the default linksys router starhub used to issue, then it's much worse. but somehow my apple airport extreme router works better than direct cable to modem. u can try other high end routers from D-link, belkin, etc..
