Car Guage. What does it does?

Vacuum, Oil Temp, Water Temp and Battery Voltage are the common ones I heard of.

I know Battery Voltage is to read the battery life only (is there more)?

I know all these can be read in ScanGuage2.

Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Scangauge 2 is definately sufficient for gauges wise..it's reads almost everything..

Some are very obvious what. Oil Temp and Water Temp is temperature of oil and water lor.

Some are quite dubious. Even got clock only.

1. Oil Temp

Your engine oil runs through your engine and is probably the best measure of the temp of your engine.

It can tell you if you should allow your car to rest during a long and hard drive.

2. Oil Pressure

As it is the bloodline of your engine, it is best to know asap if there is a leak somewhere, so that you can stop your car before anything blows up.

3. Intake Manifold Pressure (Vacuum)

This should be the best warning of anything wrong with an NA engine. Anything out of the ordinary can be an indication of problems with your valves, spark plugs, or if there are leaks somewhere.

4. Water Temp

Actually the Oil Temp gauge already gives you an indication of your engine's temp. However, a Water Temp gauge is useful in that it gives you early warning of a failure of your coolant system (e.g. fan not working).

Very informative yet very simple to understand! [thumbsup]

Just like Polar heart beat watches. Useful for some who wants to optimised their running body.

Just like weighting machine. Useful for some who wants to know their weight.

Best is to get those telemetry from F1 cars. Every fark things also can see and know.

Go do a search of this forum. Someone has actually uploaded some charts and readings of the vacuum gauge before. It was some years back. I got it and it is quite informative.
