My ride 05 civic based on SG fuel

RON 95 - When RPM go above 3.5K the engine vibrating abit but will not lag when picking up speed.

on the freed, shell 98 feels smooth and engine more responsive compared to 95. was pretty obvious as i was on 98 till empty then switched to 95. btw, anyone notices spc fuel a little 'different'? negatively so.

i think its your car not the petrol lah.

If ur car is NA and not high powered just use the minimum ron rating... Everything is psychological. Just look for the petrol brand that will give u the best mileage... Due to different additives.

Neutral Newbie

if you understand how car ecu work then you would know which octane is best suit for your car. In brief, as long as the ecu did not detect any knocks, it will continue to use the most optimium fuel map to run your car, octane 92, 95 or 98 does not matter. If in the event of knocks detected, it will switch to alternative but lower octane fuel map to protect the engine, which typically result in poorer mileage and perfomance. Therefore, a fuel with higher octane level is more stable and hence can resist knocks better than a lower octane fuel. Just follow what the manual recommends and no harm done to the engine...hey, my evo if in stock setup can use octane 95, so say a sticker inside the fuel lid. [laugh]

Just used the rating recommended by the manufacturer lah, unless your car have been tune for certain petrol grade.

The only difference between higher octane is it ability to resist knock. If no knock, then stick to the recommended fuel grade. If got knock at high RPM, say 6000, but you only usually don't go beyond 4000, also use, just don't be heavy footed loh.

Yup same here. I have been instructed by my tuner to use strictly V-power only as running very lean for both cars.

Out of curiosity, whats the difference between v power & 98?

For me, yes, I strictly need 98 petrol. Anything below will cause knocking.

What car you are driving.

My friend got swift sport that is suppose to be high compression engine, but still he pump 95. He just say just don't go above 6k.

Work place only 5km some more & red plate but still so very conscious about fuel cost.

If only my workplace is this close. Mine is 22 km & got ERP gantries some more. Sigh
