Genie47 1st Gear July 29, 2010 Author Share July 29, 2010 Sorry I should mean the ATR72 has a bigger passenger load than the A320. I have no idea why I typed in 330. Forgot what was on my mind.

May need earplugs When you're in a turboprop, especially if seated near the engines, the noise is almost deafening, compared to the usual jets. But better to have much noise, than suddenly... no noise!

B777jubilee 2nd Gear July 29, 2010 Share July 29, 2010 Since we are on planes, let me share some jokes on airplanes: Sixteen reasons why airplanes are easier to live with than women: 1) Airplanes usually kill you quickly - a woman takes her time. 2) Airplanes can be turned on by a flick of a switch. 3) Airplanes don't get mad if you do a "touch and go." 4) Airplanes don't object to a preflight inspection. 5) Airplanes come with manuals to explain their operation. 6) Airplanes have strict weight and balance limitations. 7) Airplanes can be flown any time of the month. 8) Airplanes don't come with in-laws. 9) Airplanes don't care about how many other airplanes you've flown before. 10) Airplanes and pilots both arrive at the same time. 11) Airplanes don't mind if you look at other airplanes. 12) Airplanes don't mind if you buy airplane magazines. 13) Airplanes expect to be tied down. 14) Airplanes don't comment on your piloting skills. 15) Airplanes don't whine unless something is really wrong. 16) However, when airplanes go quiet, just like women,it's usually not good. Kb27 Supersonic July 29, 2010 Share July 29, 2010 I've taken SkyWest Embraer EM120 Brasilia turboprop from LA to San Diego. It's only 1/2 hr flight, so no big drama.
Genie47 1st Gear July 29, 2010 Author Share July 29, 2010 See this video. Not ATR or Q400 but the 4-engine DHC-7. When landing, it is like standing still in the air thanks to the wind! No wonder Berjaya Air used them before they got the ATR72.

As a result SAS grounded them during that time. They found out it was poor maintenance. I think this is what happens when you outsource a lot of maintenance. Bombardier's stock price fell hard during this time. Danish Air incident http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu89SIBDizQ ANA incident. Front undercarriage failed to lower. The pilot saved the day. The Q400 is also called the Dash-8 and the Scandinavians called them Crash-8s. I think it can be agreed that most planes including old planes are not pieces of flying junk. Most manufacturers do not want to put a lifespan on passenger planes because they actually can keep on flying forever provided you maintain them all the way. So don't be scared Babyt. Even a spanking new plane bought by the airline for a couple of weeks but not well maintain will crash.
