Slueth Neutral Newbie July 27, 2010 Share July 27, 2010 subject matter expert, Car manufacturer suggested 185/60/15 vs tyre shop proposal 195/55/15 of course, the bigger size comes with stability but may affect the fuel consumption. As this will not affect the warranty, i'm concern whether this tyre will looks awful and more importantly, is it common in the market to change the size that different fr car manufacturer. any helps or advise??? ↡ Advertisement

Not an expert but yes. It is common to change the size esp when ur current size is obsolete or super hard to find. I changed tyres size too.

( 195mm width 55mm height 15'' rim )
Slueth Neutral Newbie July 27, 2010 Author Share July 27, 2010 Thanks, but worry whether the tyre will not fit properly and therefore looks funny, ie the sidewall is not parallel to the rim...... if the above is not a concern, i will opt for bigger size as ES tyre quoted good price, ie ES501 195/55/15 $100 vs 185/60/15 XM1 $120, Adrive $100, LS2000 $

Boyboy 1st Gear July 28, 2010 Share July 28, 2010 consider your rim size. my stock rim works slightly better on 195 tires, but the stock tire is 185. for the SAME MODEL of tire, bigger means worse comfort, worse FC, better handling and grip. but there will be increased tendency to aquaplane given the same depth of thread. HOWEVER... from 185 to 195, the difference is small la.. so u just consider what is your priority and whether the increase in price is worth for u. ↡ Advertisement
