Liverpool have completed the signing of midfielder Joe Cole on a four-year deal following his release by Chelsea.

The 28-year-old England international left Stamford Bridge in June after failing to agree a new contract with the Premier League champions.

Cole, who was also linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.

More to follow.

Chelsea is crazy. Exchange a younger player for an older player and still incur additional expense of 6mil.

6million is peanuts for a club like Chelsea. . . [laugh] [laugh]

anyway Yossi still can play at the top level but comparing both players,

I think Joe Cole is better technically, and considering he came for free. . .

thats pretty good business by RH. . . now the hunt for Left back. . .

Compare JC to YB, JC is more skilfull than YB. Opposing defenders are more likely to be drawn towards JC than YB and that could be good for the boys upfront.

Anyway, a good signing considering it's free!

sell Gerald and Torres.... that should get more funding.

Reds should stop focusing on the 2-man strategy and play more as a team. The former approach is too predictable; just mark these two and game over.

Wonder how much Cole is paid a week?

He won't agree to come to a 7th place team for pittance 1.

said to be around 90k per week. . .

6mil is peanuts but is just not logical. Buy a 30yr old for 6mil and let a 29yr old player go free. [hur]

That's where JC would be good for LFC. JC are able to lessen the load on SG and FT by drawing away defenders.

RH should sell some of the useless players to get $$$ for potential transfers. At least can also let some of the academy players a chance.

I only have one concern here. Will he buddy up with torres in the sick bay more than on the field ?

If he can at least play 50% of this coming season matches than i would say [thumbsup] Otherwise 90k for another sick bay attendee ! [hur]
