I was wondering how many can go through life without comparing with others.

Do you feel the need to compare all types of things from cars, housing, jobs, salary, girlfriend, results etc?

Is comparing good or bad? On one hand, maybe it motivates people to improve. On the other hand, it creates pointless stress.

-----------------------

I guess it's inherent in humans to make comparison at one time or other in one's life. However, when one reaches a certain level of cultural and spiritual development, such nature may dissipate especially as one gets older and achieve wisdom. Thereafter, such individuals may no longer bother to make comparison in accordance to your question.

Just my 2 cents

A person who doesn't compare is one who has already given up on life.

It not whether you should compare or not...but how what when to compare.

Since young....

We keep comparing results wif others....

Then we slowly compare random things like

Pencil box, bag, shoes....

Slowly, slowly, grow abit mature....

We compare clothes, hair style, etc....

Lots of things we compare...

Till now adult, we still compare.....

Houses, Car, hand phones, etc....

Compare n compare

Sometimes i get sick and tired of being sick and tired...

sigh.... -_-

Know what you want. Don't be influenced by what others have.

People have BMW, Merc or Porsche doesn't mean is good or must have.

U drive Kia, you happy. Other people huan lo.

Peace. [:)]

Not everybody can afford a car that they want. So in the end, pple lower their expectation and tried to settle for the second best options. But wat is the second best options?

They will go through a period of comparison before they ultimately settle for the car they want.

Good or bad?

I think that is good as it helps you to make a better choice. At least you will not live to regret.

As long as you are comparing with something realistic and not something out of your reach, then I think it's healthy to compare.

I am a serial comparer.... how?

Even at the urinal, I try to sneak a peek left and right.

Comparing with others is a basic cognitive behaviour of humans. We compare to benchmark and gauge ourselves, as well as to know our place in society, whether we belong to higher/lower income group, blue/white collar worker, how well we perform at work etc.. Our cognitive process do it all the time and so quickly that sometimes we don't even realise it..

My opinion? Bro.. it's ok to do positive comparison. But if comparing makes you feel lousy about yourself.. then maybe it's not ok.. so.. erm.. if you feel lousy that others have got a bigger stick than you, then don't look lo. At least be grateful that you even have a stick that works.. [cool]
