Victor68 Turbocharged August 17, 2010 Author Share August 17, 2010 Hi, just to update everyone in case you are also thinking of changing your timing belt. I did mine in JB Hup Heng Ang Enterprise. No 31 Jalan Kuning, Taman Pelangi. Just behind Pelangi shopping centre. I paid around RM $900. While doing the change, the mechanic notify me that my auto oil is very dirty and need to change. I was very surprise because I just change that in Jan this year when I sent my car to another outlet in Sutera Mall. I went back today to the Sutera Mall mechanic and ask him why my auto oil should be so dirty only after 6 months. He said maybe the gear box is dirty and it is not flush! I told him what is the point of changing auto oil without flushing? Well, he told me that if I would have came back 1 month after the change, they would do something but not now after 6 months. If auto oil is suppose to last at least 30,000 KM and I drove less than 5 KM, why should it be so dirty? He quoted me RM 350 to change it. Well, obviously I am not changing at his outlet anymore. So, if you are going to JB watch out and be careful.
Yeobh 4th Gear August 17, 2010 Share August 17, 2010 Chances they only do top-up using a hand pump. Do they have the ATF flushing equipment ?
Victor68 Turbocharged August 18, 2010 Author Share August 18, 2010 I really don't know because I left the car with them. I share this here to warn others should they wanted to carry out any non-routine servicing. As a mechanic, if you noticed something is not right and recommend that the oil need to be replaced. surely you cannot just 'top up' and don't care if it is sufficient to rectify the problem. What makes me angry is that this supervisor even has the cheek to say that if I had brought it back within a month, he could do something. Is there a different between 1 month or 6 months for auto oil?
