Most people will complain for the sake of complaining just because it is Korea car... Nowadays Japanese car is different from the Japanese car 10yrs ago... "Made In Thailand" have quite some defect as well as lousy quality in the market but many people are pretending it to be normal as they are Japanese and they just simply believe it...

That's why most Hard Core fan did mention " MIJ" Made in Japan instead of japanese car.

This is to differential japanese car made elsewhere from real made in japan car...

singaporeans got bird mentality la

overseas VW is trash brand, you got no money then you buy VW

in sg VW is considered conti

we still have a long way to go before we can graciously accept change and perceive facts by ourselves instead of scumming to peer pressure

wow, does that mean 9 out of 10 of his friends are bird brain?

continental car = made in european countries / design and branded as a continental brand

so why is it wrong when vw cars are considered conti? can kindly explain?

and why canot use Jetta 1.4tsi vs civic 1.6a? they serve the same category of buyers. you only like to do comparisons which are of favour to what you stand for? lol :D

even if don't use the sport version. 1.4 jetta with 122bhp 200nm is also a slightly better performer than the civic, + DSG gearbox, better FC, lower road tax.

and according to SGcarmart pricing, civic is slightly more expensive, older technology and alot lesser features as well.

by the way, Jetta 122bhp is non-sport version. don't even need to use sport version 1.4tsi 160bhp 240nm to compare with civic 1.6 or 1.8 or even 2.0 for that matter :D

Jetta is a bit small road presence compared to the civic.....

well, in terms of other factors. like road presence or design.. these are up to individuals and hard to justify.

for tangible factors like price, list of features and performance, Jetta is the obvious winner if compare with civic, or any other car within the same price bracket serving the same group of potential buyers.

I agree, i do prefer civic overall design.

True, design is really up to individual and hard to justify.

therefore, the real winner in this should really goes to jetta,

where performance, price, features is hard facts on paper.

the jetta you are using for comparison is the sport tsi version?

because the civic 1.6 is 125bhp, if i'm not wrong there is no other 1.6L that has a higher bhp than the civic

Bro,

I am using the 1.4 TSI 122bhp version.

I have the link below where i put all 3 VW side by side with the lowest range Civic.

In term of pricing all except TSI sports (which have 240Nm and 170Bhp) are cheaper than Civic 1.6 with better build quality.

Base on this alone. This is no brainer that most goes for VW right?? making it now effectively a BB car in Singapore.

plus with Jetta 1.4 TSI 122 BHP 7DSG can out perform a 1.8 Civic at a lower price, which will be a better buy??

But, but, the 7DSG will probably fail first - due to mechatronics kaput, after a year, or less, of ownership!

Civic more reliable.

you are right, over the weekend the 1.4 tsi non sports version was going for 92.8k

most definitely the most valuable car on the market over the weekend

honestly i was considering to change cars myself

but disappointed to know that there isn't any rear passenger aircon for this version, only the 1.6L which is cheaper but performance not up to par with the 1.4tsi and the 1.4 sports is over my budget

Didn't know that 1.4 dont have rear aircon. cause when i was there they look more well equip than the 1.6L versoin.

you might want to double check again?? since they are having 10K discount this saturday.

(Anyway just a opinion. I think the reason why VW is always having discount is because its actually their intended selling price for their car. But to protect their image, they do not want to reduce the price too drastically hence they called it discount. I was thinking, maybe the new model coming out, their price will be adjusted down without discount. effectively bringing their price closer to their real rivals, honda and toyota)

In the past they are sold as premium cars.

More recently after VW sold direct, I think they have had a better marketing strategy, having something for every segment.

Most VFM comments are on the Jetta/Polo. Jetta is sort of like a "Tomyam Jap" made in a lower cost country. If the comparison was Golf vs Civic, I think it is clear that the golf is still sold as a premium marque and more exp.

At least they pass on the savings from lower cost of production to the consumers, which is commendable.

VW is overpriced in Singapore. Although the OMV is so low due to the Euro, the savings are not really passed on to the customers. The prices for VW should be lower than it actually is. The japs on the other hand are suffering due to the high Yen.

From this page: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...Cost_Update.pdf

VW makes a cool 22-25k from each Jetta, compared to other jap makes.

VW should just lower their polo, jetta & sirrocco prices - that will kill off most of the jap makes. Imagine a Jetta sports priced lower than Altis or Civic. It's going to be a no-brainer for most. Somehow i think VW still wants to maintain some sort of exclusivity locally. But in the end, VW is just another entry level car in europe.

Thought that is the main reason why they took back from the AD?? cause they mis-represent the car as premiums??
